So far so good. Get the remaining wickets early on tomorrow and then either set another target for the Aussie's to chase, or take some quick wickets on the follow on and try and get a low total for us to chase.

Delayed start to the match on Saturday, that could spoil the result for either side.

We've possibly blown it today. I'd like to see GBH get a bowl though to be fair to Giles it isn't his fault if the 'keeper misses the stumping.
G Jones is now being mocked by the fans. Warne has had two lives and is taking the win away from us. But Fletcher will keep picking Jones. All so frickin' predictable.
BTW, if we ain't gonna bowl Hoggard then why are we picking him?

2 extended days to go Beamy, we can still do this. We need to take the three tomorrow and to do that we may need to put someone, anyone else behind the stumps. My mind boggles to think what acts Geraint Jones must have done to keep that position in tact for so long. He's had more chances than the Monopoly dog.

Old Dropsy will be picked for the next Test too. We should make Jones an England selector because he's bound to drop himself! We need to have a 1st inns lead of at least 130 and declare an hour before close setting a total of over 400. That'd mean scoring 270+ in around 55 overs. The Aussies can chase down 350 on Monday if we're not careful. Or they could bowl us out for 180 and chase 300 with plenty of time to spare. We have to be careful not to find a way of losing this match like we nearly did at Edgbaston.

Even Bob Willis is saying that Read should replace Jones for the next test. The runs Jones got just might get him a place, but Read has hit 50+ today.
It would be nice to see a local playing at Trent Bridge in the test. It used to be done to get a few more people through the gates, but I think they are all nearly sold out.

Well Reidy is sending a message with the bat in the game with Warwickshire. 77 not out at stumps on a pitch that had 14 wickets on day one go down.

Ready needs to double his total to have any chance of getting in. Unless Dropsy grasses another chance tomorrow.
Today went about as well as we could've hoped. I'd rather have scored another 20 runs but we shouldn't be able to lose from here. I dunno if we can take 10 wkts in 98 overs but we at least have a chance. GBH and Hoggard must bowl a lot better tomorrow.

If the Aussies keep scoring at this rate they can win this. 450+ should've been set and why are there not enough slips? We don't need a man at mid-off.

What an amazing game. I've sat here listening to it in America these last few overs on radio five. A great effort from the team getting to the brink but an excellent rearguard action from the Aussies to hold on. When Ponting went I thought we were going to do it but fair play to the tail.
This really proves that England are capable of winning this series, roll on the "home" match at The Bridge.

Who was it who bowled Clarke off the last delivery of the 4th day at Edgbaston? Who was it that dismissed Kasprowicz to win the game? Who was it that dismissed Ponting to put us in sight of the victory at Old Trafford? Harmison has a track record of taking crucial wickets, Hoggard really doesn't. Don't get me wrong, i like Hoggy, he's a talented bowler with the new ball but despite his poor over i'd put Harmison in the same position next time.

If Hoggy doesn't take wkts at TB then I'd expect Tremlett to be brought in for the fast bouncy Oval track. linkThe weather forecast is looking ok for me on Thursday but not Sunday.

Very harsh indeed to give Giles 4. He's taken some crucial wickets, as has Hoggy. 5 each at least.

Superseries XIII hasb been announced. Ponting is looking forward to it. If it had been done the American way and left to fan votes the team would've been:My test XI would've been:Sehwag, Tendulkar, Dravid, Lara, Kallis, Freddy, Sangakkara, Pollock, GBH, Shoaib, Murali. Dravid would've captained and I'd only play one specialist spinner since Sydney doesn't turn as much as it used to. Plus Sehwag and Sachin can bowl spin.

I wouldn't put Kallis in to be honest, he's not what he was and there are better options. To say we're the second best team in the world, only having two players in is a little poor and i think KP has been picked a little prematurely. That team you picked is a beast isnt it?

You gotta have Kallis. His batting last year was phenomonal. He's arguably the best batter in the world right now. I'd put him in the same bracket as Ponting, Dravid and Lara. And he can still bowl, though he doesn't like to. I can't think who else England could've had. We are more of a unit whereas India and others rely on exceptional individuals. Maybe one day we'll have both like the Aussies had a few years ago. My team would eat them alive! LMAO. Cracking quotes by Sir Richard Hadlee at the Aussies expense.

He stands about 6 foot 5 and tops 90mph. Similar to GBH but he can get reverse swing. But he's raw and wayward. And inexperienced. And Trent Bridge doesn't reverse swing. Only normal swing.
McGrath has a slight elbow injury.
