Help me out....If we do get another import I believe that Ellis will return to the bench is that correct? I am the same as other people I believe that Ellis as a player has done a great job and I thiunk we should stick with him and if we do get another import and someone has to go we look at another import who is underperforming. Whats the view on that?

the fact he even took Sugden on tells me I'd of loved him in a Panthers shirt Oh come on! He didn't "take him on", he skated around for 20 seconds and fell over....twice!! Sugden laid on top of him then they both skated to the box, with embarassed looks on their faces.

Im sure after he felt those 2 punches he thought he'd took him on. Then again he aint from Finland so he won't get much respect on here.

Its not like going after Payette, Voth,Cruikshank etc - Sugden I would rate as top 5 toughest players on the planet. Take into account Macisaac's age and the fact hes been playing europe whilst Sugden has been fighting 3times a week at least and im not surprised

That was 3 seconds into the game? And they weren't even the first players into the penalty box

You could compare it to the EIHL just the weak Brits are replaced with goons.

Watching the interview on the panthers website Ellis really doesn't look too confident upon signing a player, probably going to be make or break for him which is why he is probably being so careful.
30 Candidates and not one fitted the profile? the acts of a careful man.

Meh, call me cynical but weve got another move after this one so he could have brought someone in temporarily then if 'mr right' came along make the decision of who to gas. The whole thing stinks of costcutting to me....

totally agree with you Rich, to say there is nobody out there that could add to our team is ridiculous and a blatant lie, I'm a big fan of Ellis before anyone jumps down my throat, just being honest.
cut the biggest earner and replace him with the coach who wont be on anymore money for playing, quids in

30 Candidates and not one fitted the profile? the acts of a careful man. To be fair, that's not what he said. There was one guy who he thought was done and dusted, but that fell through; there are lots of candidates out there (and by that I think he means suitable ones) and he wants to be as sure as he can be that he's got the right one. After all this is his last ITC.

The whole thing stinks of costcutting to me.... I think costcutting is the wrong word but the principal is the same. Could Ellis just not be saving those pennies to add to the new guys total salary? eg. PC on £1000 p/w, Ellis on £1000 p/w behind the bench (not counting to the cap) PC released, Ellis plays. 50% of salary is used towards the cap s a saving of £500 p/w. Now PC was released 9 weeks ago. on my made up salary thats £4,500 in the bank. With 13 weeks until the final whistle of the playoffs (give or take) that is a total of £17,500 to spend on that player's salary.

Could Ellis just not be saving those pennies to add to the new guys total salary? He could be. More likely he had to play himself when the Hay deal fell through. Once registered and the results picked up dramatically there was no rush to bring someone in, especially as Mike can play forward or defence. With the passage of time it's become a Catch 22 situation for Mike - he has to bring in a player who is going to make an impact or he'll get slated for not leaving things as they are and playing on himself. It seems reasonable to assume there will be extra funds available for the player's salary after all this time but unless Mike makes sure he gets the right man that wont count for anything. No surprise then that he's not rushing into making a signing.

I'm told Askey is one of the biggest earners in the team (and worth every penny IMHO) and on considerably more than Rasto was so all this "saving money" isn't quite true.
