Hopefully if we sign him he'll be a bigger hit here, how more advanced is the italian league? In terms of EIHL standards he could be alot better,.[/quote I would say the standard of the EIHL is higher, if only marginally. The big attraction of the Italian League is fewer games, beautiful surroundings and better money.

Yeah he is a crowd favorite but in comparison to last season, I used to cringe when everyone used to chant him back after a mediocre game whereas towards the end of last season/playoffs i can totally see him enjoying it, I do think its time to call it a day though, to be honest his moment has passed and he just isnt the player he was last season but thats old news anyway. Will be sad to see him go but if thats what needs to be done, or as Ellis sees it...so be it.

Hmm looking at his GAA it hasnt been that bad for years, perhaps it could be lousy defence at his current team but surely Ellis knows all about good NM and poor D so why bring in a new NM before sorting out the D. Eurgh.
Whats Rastos GAA for this season? 87?

Taken from the HC Aleghe website (and translated via google [martinski83 doesn't do italian]) The goalie Tom Askey is no longer welcome in the dressing room so the goalie from all listed as a possible best goalie of the Italian league Alleghe leave. "It is also a decision taken in the dressing room. The lack of commitment goalie convinced us to make a choice. It communicates without enthusiasm President Renato Rossi. He was the first to believe in the potential of doors, not only on the basis of a statistical commendable but especially for the recommendations of a goalie like James courses and Joe Christian. "I can not understand what has happened - Rossi continues - we were expecting much from this goalkeeper. Unfortunately, this is the only possible solution. Ghunter Hell has already linked with the changing room and is ready to take at bay our cage. However striking the sincerity with which the president remembered as the choice to give up Tom Askey was also suggested by the changing room. The article went on to say that former Alleghe n/m Niklas Sunblad (It's not Sundberg.. I had to look twice though) would return as he was a favourite both with fans and in the dressing room. He also has a good record at the club. The President said he had good memories of Sunblad too. I think it could bemore interesting to sign this Ghunter Hell (what a fantastic name!). We could have had all sorts of fun with that one, and think of the potential shirt sales from signing him - the shop would run out of 6's in no time! On reflection, he'd probably be better signing for the Devils!! ;D I'll get me coat!!

Eurgh. But this 'Rasto to be replaced' rumour is going hand-in-hand with the 'Stancok to be replaced' rumour... so if one is true, the other may well be also... thus sorting out the D as well. After some of the rumours that were going around the Olympic Rink last night at the Lions games, I'm not sure I can believe any of them - including this Rasto/Stancok-going-bye-byes stuff. For one thing, I was told that Wallenberg, Stancok and Neilson were all missing during the 3rd period up at Murrayfield... imagine my surprise when I later find out that Neilson got a goal and an assist in that period! ;D

What do others make of these stats? If I'm reading them correctly, regular season + playoffs, the cumulative totals for his careers are 172 games won out of a total 477!

Take out the college years and the stats arent that bad!!
Again we dont know how good his terams were those years!! To be honest we should be looking at the Save% & Goals Against!!
I think he looks very good!!

Also he's played very few games per season. Career back-up? His time in Rochester saw him play behind Noronen & Miller, both of whom are very good goalies. He's only been a starting goalie from what I can gather for the last few years (Jokerit & Kalamazoo.) I think his AHL stats are good enough for him to be a starter over hear. Take out the college years and the stats arent that bad!! Again we dont know how good his terams were those years!! To be honest we should be looking at the Save% & Goals Against!! I think he looks very good!! I agree, he looks pretty good and is probably the right age too. Hopefully this guy is coming to us.

The total of wins + losses + ties is about 50 less than total games played. Perhaps they include back-ups as appearances, but not as a result? Rochester clearly liked him as he was there for 5 seasons, and if you ignore his Ohio State days, he's had more wins than losses. As to this suggestion he's no good in the locker room, I would have thought DC would have told ME if that was a problem. A mate of mine tells me that Trevor Robbins, said by most to be Panthers' best-ever Nettie, was hardly the most endearing chap off the ice, so if this is our new guy, let's not knock him before we've seen what he can do.

Looking at that post, it would appear there was maybe a language barrier that made life dificult in italy. Thus he didnt get on with the locker room, so didnt have confidence in his team and them him. His stats are pretty good, nearly a .900 in 7 NHL games. aint too shabby. near enough over .9 for his AHL days. I'll take him

Id be delighted if he didnt get on with the players, A focused psyched nettie like Gage or Robins would be preferred over 'one of the lads' who doesnt turn up every night!
Man what id give for Robins back. As a young lad he physically shoved me up against a wall once for being in his way when he ran up the stairs onto the ice at the LPS! I didnt care tho, I was like 'wow'! Still got his stick from that game aswell!
As Rumpole said, Clarkie would have mentioned if there were any problems and it seems his comments have been on the contrary

Discount the Ohio State stats.
OSU is a football school plain and simple, the hockey team are always average at best and they don't push any great money into hockey (in US college terms) so the team likely wasn't anything special.

In terms of stats i would say its a horrible way to judge a goalie!
More of an indication is the level in which that goalie has played and on that score Askey looks good!
I remember being excited at the stats of Jason Cugnet and well i learned my lesson! ;D
