This may sound totally dumb but wasnt Hay an ex flame (NHL and quad city)? Is it not a reference to him or have I missed something? This is why I think that Black junior has just got it all wrapped round his neck. Nothing in the comment for me. The fact we almost signed Hay from the NHL who had played for Flames then to say we are signing someone else from the NHL who has played for the FLames is just too impossible to believe.

There is someone who fits the bill, of being involved with the Flames for 5 years. Although, I would be surprised if we could get hold of him But you never know. David Van Der Gulik was drafted by the Flames in 2002, and although has never played for the Flames, he has been in the system and is still shown on the Flames roster as being a prospect. Currently playing for the Quad City Flames, he posted 43 points in 80 games for Omaha last season in the AHL Stats www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=74712

He doesn't look anything like the same sort of quality as Hay though. Nor even Drouin probably. 7th Round pick... we've got better players playing in the EIHL already that's for sure.

Your joking right? We have very few that have made it and played at AHL level, and come out with points like he did at that level. Most guys go there and play afew games and pick up hardly any points. this guy got 43 points in 80 games. Thats a point every 2 games in a much much higher quality league.

DVDG is only a 2nd yr pro so and is doing OK in the AHL so I really can't see him dropping as low as the EIHL. Flames/Quad City are more likely to send him to Las Vegas if he was having problems as he's still rated as a good prospect.
If this doesn't turn out to be a mistake over the Hay move, I think it's more likely to be an older player than a young one.
Sambo, you're comparing a seasond vet to a 2nd yr pro, unyet the 2nd yr pro has already put up more points in an AHL season than Hay. Hay has only put up big numbers in the ECHL.

So if we announced that we had signed him, would it send the same tingle through your spine as Hay?

So if we announced that we had signed him, would it send the same tingle through your spine as Hay? Hay didnt send any tingle down my spine. Was a good looking signing and i welcomed him like one. However any signing we make whoever it is i try to see and be possitive over. So i would be happy with this if he was signed.

Just a thought of 'well that should be quite good' David Van Der Gulik? Would be a coup if it was him. He's a current NHL prospect, so of course it would be a good signing. I'm still sure Master Freddie has ballsed his story up though, and I really can't see DVDG being 'the one'.
