Bad Luck or What?
Have heard a whisper that Corey Neilson is planning to play as #77 rather than #76 this season.
Whilst there is no reason why he can't now play as #77, does he really want to bring bad luck on himself - and the club? We could do with some positive vibes not negative ones.
The number you start with at a club should remain, just as you should not change a house name or boat name - it attracts bad luck and the wrong omens! We really don't need them.
Apart from anything else, I will not be replacing my Neilson #76 shirt for a new #77 one and I trhink it disrespectful to other fans who suppoted him last year. I will bin it or burn it if he changes. I hope others do too.

Grow up on the hoo doo stuff, it's aload of rubbish, we've renamed our houses every time we've moved and not had any problems. been in this house 8 years now! Numbers mean certain things to players, obviously Corey who had played with 77 up until last season would like it back this season. I dont see a problem with that! Players change numbers as they need too. It doesnt change how they play, how the team is or anything.....

This has to win the award for funniest thread of the summer. I seriously hope the starter of this thread isn't being serious.

If you are that desperate to get rid, sell it on eBay pal - there'll be plenty of potential customers, and the money realised will contribute a fair bit to buying and customising you a #77 Neilson shirt! For me, if recovering his coveted #77 means a return to the form that saw him selected in ECHL All-Star squads, I'll be a happy man! ;D

Wayne Gretzky - wore the number 9 as a junior because his idol Gordie Howe wore it (he had also played in the number 11 shirt as a youngster). When he became a Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds player in the 1977-78 season, Brian Gualazzi was already was wearing the number 9. Gretzky experimented with the numbers 14 and 19 before donning the number 99, after a suggestion by Muzz MacPherson.
Didnt do him much harm now did it?

My sentiments on this are with mythosman. Corey was hardly an inspiration wearing #76, what with the loose passes and the pucks that went by him far too easily. Perhaps the #77 jersey will change his fortunes.

Rasti played as number 3 before here, and has taken the number 4 and helped us to win the play-offs

who cares! Its a number, so what! It means a lot to some players though. I know when the Leafs obtained Owen Nolan, Nik Antropov was wearing the #11 and Nolan wanted it. Antropov gave that number up for him and got a nice shiney Rolex in return. I assume it wasn't a fake ;D

I think Neilson should do the right thing and keep the 76 shirt. To be on the safe side, I think we should also strangle a chicken in each corner of the rink before face-off and dangle some windchimes from the nets.

I think we should also strangle a chicken in each corner of the rink before face-off Pity there's only one Paxton Schulte available.... ;D As regards the main subject of this thread... I really, really hope that the initial post was tongue-in-cheek - because otherwise, said poster might end up being disappointed this season... I don't think straitjackets come in black and gold... ;D

This seasons players #1 Woolhouse #4 Meyers #5 Shmyr #13 Rasto #15 McAslan #23 Ferrara #29 Neil #32 Stancock #37 Drouin #38 Myers #77 Neilson
If these were the player numbers this year, would those of you who bought a numbered shirt last year not feel cheesed off and vulnerable to yet more expense?

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. If I bought a shirt last year I'd expect it to have last year's number on it, if I buy one this year I'll expect it to have this year's number.
BTW the shirt is an XXL let me know before you burn it I might take it off your hands. ;D

Errrrrrrrrrrrrr................. NO. I do not buy a new shirt every season, nor do I feel under pressure to buy one. If I want one, I buy one. If I don't, I don't. I bought one last season as it was the sixty year anniversary, I doubt that I will bother this season. I may save the money and put it towards a "game worn" at the end of the season. You may need to investigate the possibility that you may have some sort of OCD when it comes to the new shirts and possibility of new numbers hitting the N.I.C shop ;D

I have Woolhouse's game worn 2005-06, but it wouldn't bother me in the slightest if Geoff were to change his jersey number. That's the chance you take if you have a name/number put onto your jersey. Here's a replacement for you, you appear to have lost yours.

I ll still be wearing my Neilson #76 jersey this season as it appears he will revert back to his fav #77 jersey, hey you never know he may really excel this season.
And another one, I will be wearing my wallenberg #5 jersey at the charity sheild game but i have a feeling Patrick may have his favourite #6 jersey this season
