Sorry post , I know alot of papers announce stuff on there hard copy, instead of there website. That's true - and sometimes the NEP gets to break signing news first. The NEP website is still showing yesterday's edition, although that's not unusual at this time of day. As far as I know there was no definite promise of signing news. Gary may have "expected" some this week but people have gotten a little carried away in anticipation I suspect.

I dont know if its the same at the panthers but normally there is a statement by the club the night before to say that there will be an announcement the next day??? Just seems weird there wasnt one by the club thats all.

Weve announced lots of signings on saturdays over the last two seasons

Try and get Eric Charron back! ok he maybe 37 now, but I bet he'd still do a decent job.
Only Panthers article in the fish wrapper, is about James Cooke leaving, although Ellis hasn't ruled him out entirly.

Well I hope it is a new player. We've got enough former Panthers in the squad - some of who are getting a bit long in the tooth. It's hardly building for the future.

i would love our new defenceman to jan "mad dog" magdosko. He played with a +19 +/- in 30 games last season, split between Helsingborgs (SWE) and HK VTJ Spisská Nová Ves (SVK)

Would Jason Robinson be on that much more than Rees that we'd need to free up more wages? I'm not entirely convinced about him but I can't deny he's a tough checker.

And he will add a bit of toughness, but can't believe he is on more than Reesy, if he is i would not be wanting ellis to look into getting his signature, but i trust ellis

If it is JR, you could do a lot worse. His signing in Sheffield was greeted with the same response as many on here, but he quickly changed mosts peoples opinions.
What you will get though is a steady, no nonsense, stay at home D man who will fight anyone and everyone. He is also one of the few player left in this country that can throw a decent hit.
He crunched Krajicek (when he was playing for Newcastle) during a game at the HOS, leaving him in a daze and barely able to stand.
JR will give you 100% week in, week out and his skills as a defense man are very underrated. I would take him back in a Steelers shirt.

I was also impressed with Robinson and feel that there are a lot of people out there who under-rate him. Thought he was excellent at Vipers last season

don't get me wrong he would be a good signing i feel, but just hop ehe's not going to command too much more than rees in the wage department.
