It is worrying if the rules are being bent etc, however i don't think it is as big a cause for panic as the isl days yet as the amount of money we are talking is still vastly different to what was being spent then

I cannot think why people are saying that Panthers are exploiting a situation such as Cory Nielson as Fitness coach , after all its what he does back home and has the qualifications to prove it , there is no stopping any team doing the same , Craighead is a fitness coach !
I think if you read the Panthers web page they say he is OFF ICE fitness coach , this is away from the ice and is therefore a legitamate loop hole Job . Panthers pay for the team to attend a fitness class , just because they also pay or a third party sponser pays Corey to take that class it is not breaching any rule,s as far as wage cap rules go .
Now if a player has not got the qualifications of a fitness coach then that is breaking the Rule in my book .
Now regarding Smith and his claimed wage's
LET THE LEAGUE look at the books and decide , not a forum .

oh for gods sake, a hint that panthers may be putting together a half decent squad and its all guns blazing, jeez the likes of sheffield have been doing it for years and getting away with it. Why not just do what their fans do.... ignore everyone else and enjoy the trophies....

Now regarding Smith and his claimed wage's LET THE LEAGUE look at the books and decide , not a forum . Completely agree. This claim and counter claim of breaking the wage-cap is both pointless and silly. I doubt any of us actually knows the rules regarding what is and isn't included in the cap, nevermind how much players are being paid. My only concern is if the level of spending is going up, is it with the blessing of all the teams in the league? If the answer to that is no, then I suspect we may start to see problems in the future....That's a path I'm sure none of us want to go down. Regards Doom

What goes around comes around eh? That coming from a supporter of the team that started "cheque book hockey" in the late 80s/early 90s.
As for Drouin, why are people suggesting that he is on mega bucks? He's 33 now, it's five years since he was last here and since Jokerit he's been knocking around the UHL and France. People weren't thinking the same when we signed Stevens last summer - player with a similar profile and I'd guess a similar salary.

Actually, I think you'll find the opposite on here about Tessier!. There is NO doubting his ability..he's just a lying, money grabbin', Judas! I think you'll find you've just signed a 'money grabbin' Judas' yourself...

I think Smith has priced himself out of Panthers Price range and is off to europe if no other GB club can pay his wage demand , thats a bit of inside /outside info just gleaned , also huppe may be another Jackanory signing so don.t go ordering any player named shirts just yet .
Just because a MVP puts in a daft wage demand at His club and is linked to signing for the Panthers , why do the we are breaking the wage cap bregade suddenly jump on the bandwagon say Panthers are paying more than £900 per WEEK to this player . I am now 100% certain he is not signing for the Panthers , so if he turns up at Sheffield or Coventry will they get the same youv'e broken the wage cap with pointed finger like we have had on this forum ?

......I've heard the names of a couple of players who should be revealed this week. I can't say who but if they come off it will show we are very serious about making a challenge for the title next season. We will also have a lot of fingers pointing at us with regards our wage bil!!!!! Jono why is it every time someone tells you something in confidence about new signings do you feel you have to start a thread so when the name of the person is mentioned you can tick the box for them as if to say yes but i didn't tell you

On the other hand the likes of Sheffield and Nottingham may well be up to the wage cap limit and are now trying to find varying ways of extending further and further past it. I think it's a case of "if you can't beat them then join 'em" There does seem to have been a conscious decision by some team owners to exploit the limitations of the wage cap in an attempt to gain parity with what they believe other teams are already doing. Like Doom, I wonder where this will lead.....

My guess is nowhere, end of the day what can the elite really do to prevent such things after all they can t do simple tasks such as make half decent DVDs including missing goal coverage

Like Doom, I wonder where this will lead..... I think that's the biggest danger: Club A looks at how much it thinks Club B is spending and steps up it's spending to suit. Club C then notices Club B has stepped up its spending and does likewise. Club A then realising its advantage may have gone steps it up a little more. Club B then does the same......... The danger is that you end up in a vicious circle of 3 or 4 clubs all trying to get a slight financial advantage and therefore constantly upping their spending. That's not so bad if: 1. All the clubs can afford to do it and 2. No clubs get left well behind in the spending stakes. Unfortunately I doubt that is the case which is why I have serious concerns about the potential (we don't really know) level of spending we may see this Summer. As each quality signing is announced no doubt we'll all get excited (I know I am by the Steelers signings to date), the question is, where is it all leading? Regards Doom

If they're true they're not really rumours. ;D BTW I know something the rest of you dont & when it happens I'll be the first to say that I knew it was going to happen ;D
