Clarke I'm afraid is off the Germany. It was part of the deal that got Gallant over for the playoffs. This clause was only released to the press on strict instruction that it could not be made public prior to the playoffs ending. I have heard though that you may be looking to see if there is a way out of it. Then why "release it to the press" then - and the playoffs are now over yet there is no mention of it. Sorry, Nem, but is this your way of trying to get back at us because we let the cat out of the bag about Tessier and Duisberg? Which publication do you work for anyway? DC may well go abroad - in Europe he's a marketable commodity - but if he does go, it won't have had anything to do with the deal that brought Gallant here.

Tess is Panthers bound by all the latest news. And I was only told about the Clarke news over the weekend by a mate of mine who works closer to your club. I then had it confirmed by 3 other people, one a club employee; and when I asked the man himself he just said "Can't say, you'll have to wait and see" Now call me old fashioned, but when I have spoken to him before, if he has something to dismiss, he does! I write for Powerplay, freelance to the odd national and have done some bits for Zoo. And I am not getting back at anyone mate, is this not a rumour board? I spoke to Tess at length before he went home on Tuesday night, he told me the score then, you were too late on that front I'm afraid. You will find it will most likely be released after the worlds. Hope that clears it up for you. As I said, I also got told by an off-ice official who confirmed the news but added ME and GM were looking for a way out. Maybe this is why it has not been made public?

TBH I am split on theis one, I can fully understand him going if he does, who wouldn't want to better/test themselves. On the other hand I want to see the best players playing over here.

Clarke is not good enough to play in the DEL

From Todays NEP
"It has been said that he was involved in the deal that brought Trevor Gallant here from the DEL and he is joining Straubing, but Ellis said that is not true at all,
"That was something personal between Trevor and Panthers. Clarkie wasn't involved," he added. "I will be talking to players over the next few days about next season and we're hoping to make some announcements soon."

Well looking at the NEP article it doesn't say that clarkie isn't going to Germany, just that it wasn't part of the deal that brought Trevor Gallant over.
I guess we will find out soon enough.

As I posted on another thread..alot of what David does next season will depend on Morgan and I`m sure he comes top of Davids priorities

I never thought id say this but il be more disappointed if Matt leaves than Clarkie. MM is a much more complete player. Fair enough Clarkie is pretty irreplacable but his wage could be used to replace him easier than Matts could replace Matt IMO
Colin Shields in for Clarkie? All day!
Myers said all along hes going back to cardiff HOWEVER a pro hockey player choosing teams will often follow the coach and id imagne he respects Ellis with his GB ties, winning the playoffs etc over some cheapshot who ran him from behind into the boards and injured him....

I snuck the German question in at the GB game last night with Clarkie,...
I got him to sign a shirt and told him to write ",..and I swear I am not going to Germany" under his sig,.
He stopped and laughed, asking if it was a new contract he was signing.
He wouldnt be drawn tho , and just said we'd have to see.

It will be a big loss but i think Colin Shields would be a good replacement, He may not be as good a sniper but he's a better play maker, which means he'll hopefully give out less wayward passes than dc! So if the legend that is DC leaves, the only brit to fill his shoes imo is Shields! Not even Ashley Tait would be a suitable replacement imo.

If Clarkie does go to Germany then he's earned the right to try his hand at a higher level. Can't blame the guy for testing his ability on another level.

As I posted on another thread..alot of what David does next season will depend on Morgan and I`m sure he comes top of Davids priorities I have to agree that clarkey's decision will be based on his son as well as his career. Would david want his young son to be moved about loads just for clarkey to get a little bit more cash in his pocket. Make his son learn different languages just for him to be there a year or 2 it would be pointless.

i can't imagine clarkey geting more money in that league than he does in this one
as in this league he is one of the most sought after signings soits going to drive his price up, over there i doubt he will be highly requarded at all

There's one way for him to change that. We have all seen what he can do when he's focused.

Just had a text from a friend in Slovenia following GB team - she's been talking to Matty and he wants to stay (with Panthers, not in Slovenia!).

I actually think of out of all the brits that we had last season i think that having danny is the key. To be honest i'm not too bothered if any of the other brits come back as long as we replace them with decent brits but that is unlikely to happen.
