Noticed that Coventry have announced season ticket pricing for 2007/2008 season.
There will only be 24 games on the season ticket. Could this indicate that there may only be 9 teams in the EIHL next season?

Dont forget how late Hull joined, even if there are only 9 teams on the cards at the moment I wouldnt be surptised if that changed in the summer.

Doesn't MK Lightning have a right to apply for the EIHL?

An eleven team league would be a nightmare in terms of fixtures...

i see 10 teams next season, i see 12 the season after when MK join and another scottish outfit joins, someone like fife or dundee or the possibility of a london team resurecting. Heck maybe even a 14 team league with both racers and knights returning and having a rivalry. But at the end of the day I dont see this league shrinking, yes edinburgh have had a hard time with imports uping and going, but that doesnt mean they are to fade out and go does it?!?!
To me this is just a vicious rumour that doesnt help edinburgh or the league. This in my mind should be closed off and put to rest. The fans and teams make the league, and if you guys are so adimant that edinburgh are to fail then just maybe you will get your wish! But i will go on the possitive side of thinking and say all will be well next season.

It is a rumour (that is why it is in the rumours section), however, look at what is available to partly back this up. 1. The first team to show season ticket pricing for next season is only including 24 games. Remember that this time last season we only had 9 teams. Hull came in at the last minute. 2. Simmsy has openly criticised Edinburgh for being non-competitive on Internet TV, lambasting the management for their negativeness in not recruiting replacement players. 3. 3 imports walk out 6 weeks from the season end. Why? Could there be money problems, or could it be they were told the end is nigh. I realise this is all pure speculation, but the signs to me do not look good.

Balls you are taking things out of context. Those players quit and went to other teams before the deadline of those other leagues closed, the way they did it was not right but that is why they went at the time they did from what i can see. So what if simsy has said anything about them, he slates our team and management all the time, it's his job as part of the powerplay mag to do his internet tv slot. He just so happened to use it on edinburgh this time. He may be right they should of gone and got imports, but again look at it this way, maybe the money they save from not having to go out and bring in players will save the team for next season if like some people claim their finances are all shot. the money saved could help keep them going. And read what 123 has said on the coventry ticket thing. They have only put 24 matches in to stabalise the price of season tickets and any extra league games are to be paid for, pretty much like hull games this season. To me thats good sales and marketing in a sport that relies so heavily on ticket sales to keep the teams going. So once again i'll realliterate. This post is damaging with all the claims and such, and often it's rumour mills that cause more damage than the truth.

be bad if the league loses either the Bison or Caps, I'd try to keep them and try and add Guilford and Bracknell and MK Lighting more teams the better, I think to promote the league we need a stable team in London.

Can only speak for the Gold. Gold last Season with the "Early Bird " discount was £300 for 24 games. Also paid for 3 Games against Hull at a discount of £12 each = Season Total of £336. I am expecting that the Early Bird price next Season should therefore be £330 for 27 Games with the 10% increase.

havnt heard of any rumours they might be going but have been thinking to myself for a while i hope they dont, the sooner another Scottish team joins the better, a bit of a rivalry could do wonders
very much doubt Basingstoke will go, at the end of there second season they gave the fans the vote to see if they wanted to stay in the league and they said yes, now with only the EPL to go to it would seem silly for them to walk out, would be a real shame.
a new London team is a must soon, such a massive potential fan base.
Dundee and/or Fife, MK and Bracknell would all be good additions.
be good to see a few more teams next season because it adds more competition at both ends of the table, if it does expand though it will be to 12 not 11.

the only team i could see dropping out are edinburgh I can't see them dropping out at all. Firstly, they are apparently not as badly off financially as their low attendances would suggest... I gather their costs are very low. Allegedly, Rob Wilson has said that even with getting over double the number of fans, the Vipers actually make less money than Edinburgh! Secondly... where would they go? They already have a team in their lower league up there... and it is currently on about the same level (maybe a little higher?) as the ENIHL North that the Nottingham Lions are in. I doubt the Caps fans would be happy with that. As for the Coventry 24 games on the season ticket... haven't they always done that, and made people pay for any games over and above that?

maybe Edinburgh if the worst happened wouldust disband, like the storm, racers and phoenix, i feel for the caps fans and hope the speculation is all wrong but it does not seem totally unrealistic.

With regards to Edinburgh
What was the point in spending 3 x flights........ITC Cards and wages car/accomodation ect for the sake of one extra gate?
Now maybe if the play offs hae been a bit longer they might have made the effort, but at the time they were so far behind I would have probebly done the same if I was in charge.....
If memory serves me right, didnt the Caps win a couple of games immediatley after the 3 players left?
The rumours we are hearing in Hull are Dundee to be accepted in.....

Paisley may have a team next season they might join EIHL. Apparently they have a rich American owner.
Doffo see Edinburgh dropping down a league & maybe Hull too.
Only time will tell

really hope Caps or Hull dont drop down, were never going to have a stable league when teams come up then go down after a couple of seasons. would think the owners benefit from an increase in away supporters and sponsors due to being in the top flight.
a 12 or 14 team league would be a good size for next season.

According to their programme notes, the Capitals have no intention of leaving the Elite League. I quote from their programme:-
Preparations for next season are now already well underway and some major changes to the way the Capitals approach the Elite schedule must be adopted if we are ever going to make a significant impact on the League. I will be making representations to the League clubs to make sure the Capitals utilise the bmibaby League Sponsorship to the maximum in an attempt to alleviate the travelling burden faced by the team.
It may also change the way we have traditionally set up our away playing schedule but we have to look at ways that will help balance the travelling advantage that the teams in the Midlands enjoy. The recent schedule for example had the team play 6 games in nine nights, travel over 2500 bus miles and spend 48 hours on the bus during the nine day period. The long road trips in particular contribute greatly towards fatigue and the spreading of cold/flu related illness, and therefore has a direct impact on performances. The current schedule is a huge disadvantage to the Capitals and it also has a negative impact on recruitment.
The Capitals have launched season tickets for the 2007-2008 campaign and I hope you will support this initiative. To compete at Elite League level we must harness the support and be as prepared as we possibly can for next season if we are to challenge for silverware.

I hope we at least keep the same teams, but we should bring in a euro limit so they have to go out and get enforcers! I think Strachan at Hull will for sure and it depends if caps get a full time coach
