Moran will be announced tomorrow, Ive been told tonight who themselves had it confirmed, and he doesn t do rumours, Im guessing the other news will be the retirement of Maltby

Rumour our way is that Maltby may be retiring, he had a team photo took at the weekend with his little girl and it made a few of us question what was going off then and speculate about him leaving.

Although I haven't seen Panthers this year Moran has disappointed me every year for the last few...it just seems he's plateued in the average Brit bracket, it will be no great loss if were to be going to Sheffield tomorrow.
The only thing I can't stand the thought of is Simms being all smug about it.

Thats what they want you to believe.... I believe that should this rumour be true, then as per the usual he will get better for the drive up the M1 Also it's about time he got away from the bloody father of his.

If he gets better playing for you then I think every Sheffield player should have to have a drugs test!

It will take Simms's best spin to be smug over this one. Maybe something like :-
'We tried to sign Paul at the start of the season as we have always rated him as one of the best GB Internationals. As soon as we heard he wished to be released from his contract at Panthers we took immediate action to gain his signature. We are delighted to confirm that Paul had no hesitation in joining the family and the biggest club in the country. Moran commented ' I have always had the greatest respect for Sheffield and I can't wait to experience skate against the Panthers and be introduced to the fans on Saturdayas their latest and most passionate Steeler.' The Panthers GM was unavailable for comment.
Could I get a job as Press Officer?

Also it's about time he got away from the father of his. True enough Helen - he needs to get away from the suggestions of patronage. Overall I'd say Paul's been a good player for us but has suffered setbacks though injury in recent seasons. I was happy to see him back in a Panthers shirt again but he's had a disappointing season. A change to pastures new might just kick start his career. He should do well in Sheffield - he may not be a gold star Brit but even bronze looks good when set amongst pyrites! ;D

Well if paul comes to sheff then im assuming that he will replace phill hill on the roster until he is fit so could be about a month. The statement says 1 good and 1 bad announcement , but also says could be more good news on friday???
me thinks that maltby may retire and the friday announcement is his replacement.
dickinson or simeos for me .we allready have 4 centres so with maltby going that leaves 3 and a winger would do nicely.
Allthough you guys need a centre could be maltby .
Isnt maltby on a 2 year contract though???

can't give any update on Moran, but Radio Sheffield announced this morning that Maltby is out for approximately 6 weeks with a hernia. That's the bad news out of the way - poss Moran is the good news with tomorrows further announcement being a temp replacement for Maltby?

I take it you lot who doubted my thread about Moran, now believe this is likely to happen. By the way, my local chippy IS a source of GOOD news. Pantherfan got it about bang on. Moran was offered the chance to go to Bracknell, but consequently walked out. By the sound of it also, the players seem quite pleased with the decision of BOTH sackings, so read what you want in to this. I'll be there Saturday, waiting to see who Gary shouts for, oh and by the way, he's gutted
