shouldnt this be in the rumour section until it's solid fact?
Or has this come from Vipers management?
If he is to leave though, where too any news on that?

It might eventually work in Curtis's favour. Backstopping a team of thugs in a ZT league would hammer his stats over the course of the season.
I expect any netminder who goes their to have a torrid time.

I expect any netminder who goes their to have a torrid time. If its the netminder that many believe it to be which is Peter Aubry who played for the Devils last season then it wont be much different. As Aubry has conceeded 8 goals in one game on more than one occaision

This is the ideal opportunity for Cruickshank to show that he really is a top minder (allegedly), if he is behind a poor defence. Unfortunatly he seems to be showing what we had to endure from him at Panthers.
All I can say is that thanks Mike Ellis for not inviting him back to Panthers - a very smart move.

HL HL it's not alleged that he's a top netminder, the stats prove it. He was the best keeper in the league last year and I think second the year before that. This year he has the 4th best save percentage in the league, stood behind a crap defence and a bottom of the table side. Pretty strong proof I'd say. Bad move Vipers.

It also seems CC is not settling into the area that well either. Maybe this is one of the reasons behind is indifferent form. This is not uncommon & players some times struggle to settle into new surroundings.

Maybe HL's words were a tad harsh Shin, but I agree with him. At least 66% (probably more) on here raved about how good he was but for me he seemed to ack confidence and he was saved by outskaters more then he saved them. I felt he showed promise when he signed but then he had a good d in front of him. I've continualy said on here that if you took away his d he'd be hopeless and I think newcastles position shows that. Is it harsh? Have a look at the league table, and the fixtures/results list of the Vipers. Martin

I've never been one to subscribe to the Cruickshank fan club Martin, and I openly welcomed the signing of Lindsey on this very forum.
It'd appear that when it comes to this player, opinion is split down the middle with most fans. You have used the phrase "hopeless" to describe him, while others, for example Newham wished Cruickshank was still with us.
I'm in neither camp. I liked the look of him when he iced for Bison & was happy he joined us the following season, and I think he did a decent job for us but I was happy with Ellis' decision to sign Evan and I stand by that. As I've already posted, I don't subscribe to the adulation Cruickshank receives simply because of the GAA he had nor do I think the guy is "hopeless."
"I've continualy said on here that if you took away his d he'd be hopeless and I think newcastles position shows that."
I think hypothesis can be applied to any goaltender, in any league Martin. Look at Andrew Raycroft with the Leafs: played on a very poor Boston team last year & his numbers <obviously> took a massive hit, but this year he's playing on a competitive team and his numbers are up. The same with Evan Lindsey now he's playing for Panthers as opposed to the Racers in their first season.
I looked on the Elite League stats machine prior to posting this and Cruickshank's numbers were something like 90% save and 3.9 GAA.
Is that down to Cruickshank being a poor goalie? Or because Newcastle are down at the lower end of the table? Or a combination of things? I'd hazard a guess that if Vipers were top of the table, Cruickshank would have better numbers than he does already.

I agree, he was bound to get found out when he's not behind our rock-solid defence! I mean, we only gave up 1700 shots last year! Exactly my point (although I didn't have that stat to hand). He has been found out. He's lived off that season with the Bison for 3 years now. On his day he was good, but I personally feel that he didn't have too many days last year. I'm not interested in hearing the excuses that he lacked confidence, he had sleepless nights or he wasn't totally focussed. He, like all off us in our respective positions of employment, is paid to do a job. If I turned up tired, poorly motivated and didn't do my job properly, do you think I'd still have a job? You may think this is a tad harsh, but this is a forum for debate and thought an it doesnt always go with the opinions of the crowd or of popular posters. Do I care if you don't like my post? No I don't. I've read the forum rules and I'm entitled to my opinion as long as it is an opinion and not just a statement. Martin

Martin, i was being sarcastic/ironic/whatever.
My point is that he's been playing in front of a dreadful defence for the last two years yet has still managed to record league-leading stats. He is a class goalie and has proved it. Your point is that he's apparently been living off one year, i think you're taking great glee in slagging him off for this one bad month.

The prob with CC is you dont know what your going to get, he COULD be the best goalie in the league on his game but could also lose us games single handedly when he wasnt focused!
