Stef and Pete are the people too ask on that one Shaun, but I do recall Panthers went for a very very long period in 1994-95 unbeaten.
It all fell apart at the end, but it was a hell of a toboggan ride!

I believe the Devils had the longest winning streak of the ISL era i think it was something like 12 games. The year before we dropped to the BNL that was.

From Pete Walch's most excellent site ( homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.walch/):- That doesn't surprise me, I remember the Panthers' hotline got very boring with all the reports on winning games and remaining unbeaten

well....
best squads tend to be personal , ayrs one was very good in the ISL era. and lets not talk about the wage busting teams of them up norf'
As for panthers well 2 teams spring to mind, one with brebant in was a very good one and didnt lose a game till xmas (ie not drop a point...) One that won the b&h 3rd time was good too
as for number 3 NO....

(1) In terms of absolute quality, probably the Steelers wage-cap busting side in 2000-2001. Panthers' 98-99 team was probably our best (one cup win, both other finals and third place in the league - only injuries prevented an even better year).
(2) The Panthers 94-95 side had a very long run (into the new year), and I have a feeling one of the Steelers' ISL winning teams enjoyed a long unbeaten run as well, but I'm not sure which year.
(3) Not at the higher levels of the game, might have happened at a lower level and is probably quite common at junior level.

1: this will cause arguements left right and centre! Since the grand sham and Ayrs big season have been mentioned already il throw a new team in and say the main season Kurt Kleinendorst had in manchester. Superb coach, immense talent and balance. Players like Neumier,Pietrangelo,Jablonski,Bullock to name but 4.
2: Everyone says panthers,Im not sure myself but cant beleive we won so many games back to back and didnt win the league. I loved the 98-99 Leach,Kolesar,Zukiwski etc season, 3 awesome lines and very unlucky not to win more than the cup.As Ian said we were competetive in everything that season and if hadnt been for Herlofski would have won the playoffs 3: Dont think so at top level, but again as Ian says id imagne its common in junior

(3) has a uk team every gone through a campaign undefeated? I vaguely recall that the Sheffield Scimitars may have been totally unbeaten in their last season in the ENL North (2004 - 05 season)

(1) what are peoples opinions to the best squad/team assembled in uk hockey (any era) Manchester Storm's team during the 1998-99 season were fantastic to watch. Sheffield's Grand Sham team were pretty good too but played some of the most mind numbingly boring ice hockey I've ever had the misfortune of witnessing. When you played the 98/99 Storm is was entertaining so they edge it for me. Didn't Sheffield win 20 odd in a row during the first season of the EIHL?

Belfast Giants in their first league winning season in 2001 - 2002 had a 20 game unbeaten streak, including a 17 game winning streak.

Our grand slam team (we weren't the only team over the cap that year, thats why it was quietly dropped!) Your 98-99 team KK's Storm - awsome!
Your 20 games is still a top flight record I believe. Belfast have the ISL and EIHL record. And yes Shaggy I think you are correct re Scims. (Can't put my finger on the stats just now)

Which team was it that got the first ever Grand Slam though? Went unbeaten on Home Ice for a season and a half in the 90/91 seasons... A 5 Trophy Season, and 22 Trophies in 10 years... They were classed as a Dynasty... Had an excellent junior set-up, with players still playing in top flights today.... Brought over some very influential players and characters still in the British game today.... Ladies and Gents, I say no more.

wish i had seen more of the durham wasps especially against the warriors of old they had one of if not the best junior development program ever seen in this country shame it all got messed up by he who wont be named eh! Always loved their old shirts too, however you got to admit they played in one of the biggest dumps ever to be called an ice rink..

Which team was it that got the first ever Grand Slam though? What exactly constitutes a "grand slam"?
