Number retired
This number has the distinction of having been worn by three players who in their day were probably the most popular players on the team.
Legend has it that before a game in Solihull, Doug Withenshaw turned up with his skates and asked for a game. I don’t know if this is true, but with his impressive scoring feats and equally impressive moustache he became a big hit. His day job was managing the Golden Egg in the Victoria Centre.
Then came Mike Urquhart. Moose was a fine defender with the strength of a ox. He had a fantastic wrist shot. I asked him about it one day and he told me all Canadians have good wrist shots because there are apparently two boys for every girl in Canada. ;D
After a few seasons pause, the number was taken by Paul Adey. There aren’t sufficient superlatives to describe how highly I think of Paul as a player and as a person, but if you are a Cage regular you'll know that already.

Mike Urquhart does the hockey grades at the NIC, and is also head coach. His wife, Laura coaches the Nott'm Vipers.
