To be fair, It appears that Shelley has substained a pretty bad injury and what the Steelers need at the moment are Fit players, not another injured one. It's a big dissapointment for me, I was hoping he'd have a get together with a few of the other NHL'ers in the league (starting with Wade Belak this weekend) but unfortunately not. What really annoys me is that on Tuesday we got good news (that Dutes had come back), on Wednesday it looked like Norton's interview on local radio had reaped more rewards for Steelers fans with the announcement of restructuring of the management & a better "Kids for a Quid" scheme. Thursday..... this news, We AREN'T getting a big name NHL'er after weeks of promises, but we might be signing a Canadian D-man who is playing in Germany (no idea if he was/is a NHL'er, but doesn't sound like he's a proper NHLer). Now I know a lot/most of you won't care, but this smacks of "Norton cost cutting again" He says one week that Rob has the full financial support to match what other EIHL are spending on wages, then the next minute he masterminds his own deals which involve a talented Steelers hero returning (to get the fans off his back and hopefully a few more in the stands) Then suddenly the NHL guy we have been reportedly chasing for weeks is now unavailable, but we might be getting someone else (who sounds like he's gonna be a lot cheaper to hire than Shelley!) All I can say is: I'm a old and tight fisted Ice Hockey team owner.... Get me Outta Here!!

I'm a old and tight fisted Ice Hockey team owner.... Get me Outta Here!! Judging by his radio interview the other night it doesn't sound as though he will be going anywhere anytime soon. He's not tight fisted - just misunderstood, he has the best interests of the club and season ticket holders at heart - he said so.... I thought it an interesting interview - certainly gave me some insight to what has been happening behind the scenes in Sheffield. Will you be in Coventry on Sunday Glynn?

It's Joe Ciccarello that I feel sorry for..... his name is getting openly bandied around as being the first on the chopping block if anyone even half-decent comes along..... it's not as if he's doing that badly, going by the stats (7+8 in 17 games may not be stellar, but it's nothing to be sneezed at either).

Now I know a lot/most of you won't care, but this smacks of "Norton cost cutting again" I think Glynn most Panthers fans do care about the Steelers fans up the road, you guys are as passionate about your team as we are about ours. I suspect what we really don't care about is the mess the officials up in Shuff have got themselves into with ill concieved press releases, poor marketing, and so forth. Is almost as though what goes around comes around, and the contempt they have shown to all and sundry in years gone by is now coming back to haunt them. HL

I know you wont be interested in Maple Leafs merchandise, but Glynns t'other half has a cream lether jacket which looks very good. We could have a compo in the pub (who has the better NHL jacket LMAO)

i am sure that they probably do but perhapes they just either are not spending it wisely or players are not as interested in going to play in sheffield as other clubs.
also why didn't steelers sign shelly a few weeks ago when they were first interested in him. to me it just sounds like a convienent excuse for sheffield to say that they are not signing him.
also i would expect that cadian D'man will want more money that what shelly would if he came over.

I agree, thats what I was getting at, Norton gives us all a boost with the news on Dutes (and the restructuring - alledgedly) and the improved offer on "Kids for a Quid" to seemingly soften the blow that we Can't/Won't sign a NHL'er! (Oh but we might get some Canadian guy instead- no pedigree given tho) These methods are just so Pathetic, I am not the only Steelers fan who is getting sick of the "Norton cost saving plan".

If any Sundin/TML fans fancy making me/us a offer I think I can persuade her to sell it.

A recent newspaper article I've read (Not the Star, but a publication distributed in my local area of North East Derbyshire) said that Ciccarello was actually wanting to quit the Steelers (and had advised the Steelers managment this), because of his business commitments (not sure which ones, but that's what I read!) Joe seems to be a great guy and starting to show the skill and goal rate that he had in Basingstoke last year, but if HE wants to leave then I can't see anything wrong in the Steelers looking for his replacement
