This isn't really directly Hockey related, so feel free to move it.....
Does anyone go to the Torvill & Dean Bar in the NIC after the games ?
If so, can anyone go and are there any child restrictions ?

Anyone can go in there after the game, ive been in there a couple of times. I dont think there is any child restrictions as ive seen people in there well under 18 before, but obviously they wont be able to buy alcohol

No, there are no child restrictions in the T&D bar as far as I'm aware. I've been in there with youngsters ranging from babes in arms to mid-teens and never encountered any problem.

The T&D bar is open to anyone, but personally I would only recommend it if you're feeling flush. A fifty yard walk along Parliament Street will take you to the Castle, which has good food, friendly staff (and friendly customers on matchnights) and is far more reasonably priced than T&D bar. They are also very kiddy-friendly OK, you don't get any of the players popping in, but you can't have everything!

That's if you can get in past the Bluecoat jobsworth, we were there against Cardiff. Jobsworth stood there clicking away how many people went in. When the limit was reached, he refused to allow any more people in. Then Mr JC walked up and straight in with a hi from jobsworth. He was there against Fife doing the same when there was plenty of room at the back.
Don't ask for a shandy as it would cost over £6 with the little tins of lemonade they sell. They don't cater for the car drivers with prices like that.

The blue coats are a bit on the daft side in the bar after the games. I remember once after a game i went downstairs to speak to a friend who was public skating, then i came back up and went into the bar, and the bar staff was told not to serve me and i was asked to leave, then when i asked why, there reply was that i had just been downstairs to speak to somebody at the public skating session so i must be under 18, and when i told them time and time again that i was 19, they asked to see my passport (who carrys that around with them at panthers games) then i was told that i should just leave. But the week after i went in, and they didnt say a word to me

them bluecoats must be blind too. If people dont get in through then they go through the door at the side and walk to the back. I seen so many people do that...including myself! And as if you cant see people doing that..lol..oh well!! They the muppets!! Shouldnt even bother putting a blue coat on there...cuz after about 10 he goes and the bar fills up! muppets!!

Thanks for all your replies, both factual and advisory ! I may take a look in after the Capitals game tomorrow, but I'm certainly not fussed enough to want to argue with a Bluecoat and pay over the odds for beer which is presumably just as bad as served elsewhere in the NIC !

Yep, Carling or Worthington, that's it. BTW, Last time I went in the Castle, (after the Fife game) Mr. Big Bluecoat (who actually wears a black coat ) came in with at least two more bluecoats. Obviously T&D dont give staff discount! ;D ;D ;D

Whilst waiting for my other half to finish talking in the T&D on Thursday a friend came and told me he had just been charged £24 for a round of drinks. There were 6 people sitting around the table and one of them was not drinking and another was on non alcoholic. Another time when it was my turn to drive my husband went to get me an orange juice & lemonade. He was given 1 orange juice in one glasss & and a lemonade in another. That with his pint cost £6.95, when we checked the prices we were told that "they are, after a physical survey of other drinking outlets in the area comparable. I now ask for an orange squash and tap water, Around 30-50p (depending who is serving) at the time. Otherwise I take my own.

Don't they bother to get new supplies at the T&D?
Haven't been able to buy an orange juice for the last two games - only got reef in stock.

Lucy thought you had more co-co than that. Reef carries a better profit margin.

I've taken note of your comments regarding the T&D bar CM. I'll raise them with the NIC and the caterers in due course.
If you've any other observations or comments about the catering in general at the NIC please pass them on to me. I may well be at the Lions game so if you make it to I'll kook out for you.

Mrs. BlackburnHawk, daughter #1 and myself did venture into the T & D Bar after the Capitals game. What would have been "O.K." turned into "brill" when I spotted Johnny's mate.....Nils-Eric Johansson. I spent around 15 minutes boring the poor bloke to death talking about B/burn Rovers (for those that don't know, Johansson is currently gracing the first team at Rovers.....played today (and very well, I may add !) in our 2 - 0 win away at Fulham).
Last time I saw him was at the Panthers awards thingy last season.....I think he's trying to avoid me now (in much the same way that Mark Cadotte tries to avoid Mrs. BH !).
Anyway.....sorry.....I'm way off topic and probably shouldn't be on the 'Talk Hockey' bit. If anyone's sufficiently interested to know how an American hockey player, now in Nottingham, is mates with a Swedish footballer, now in Blackburn, then I'll be happy to supply the answer !

I'll be happy to hear it.... ;D I am led to believe they met in Germany when our very own John Craighead was playing in the DEL for Nuernburg Ice Tigers and Nils Eric Johansson was playing for German Bundesliga side FC Nuernburg and they been mates ever since ......cannot be sure though
