what a suprise! why is it every time you open a thread on here you expect to see the majority of people moaning. we're in a final! so what if its a month apart. so what if its midweek... i bet 8 out of the 10 teams fans in the elite league would swap to be in our position. jeeeeeeesus! the fixtures are what they are..... lets concentrate on building some anticipation about the games going ahead, not concentrate on the negatives.

Oh well, they are on week-nights.
droppings happen.
Lets just go and get the results we need to win the thing, I for one do not want to have a ride home in the car with my beloved (whom I love very much) going absolutley nuts having won another trophy in our barn.
I don't care how we do it, how ugly it is, I just want to WIN!!!!!!

For crying out loud, the NIC was created and exists for ICE SPORTS. It does not exist for the Nottingham Panthers. It fulfils all it's needs for ice sports with or without the Nottingham Panthers. It works within it's remit. Period.
All these complaints are getting a little boring.

It works within it's remit. Period. All these complaints are getting a little boring. You could expand that to Nottingham Arena is for events for Nottingham, the ice pad is only part of the venue. As for a week night, I'd PREFER a weekend, but I will take us being in the final over it being on a weekend and us not there. Other points raised, moving other fixtures. What if the other clubs involved couldn't make the re-arranged dates? I don't know what other clubs are doing a week on any other date besides panthers fixtures, I'll let there forums mull them over. The number of games moved in a season, yes its not nice but at least we didn't have "mama mia" book the arena for an entire month (Belfast) Then come playoffs (when it was 3/4 games) struggle to fit the fixtures in and end up playing 3 in 4 nights (I think) Remember we have an ice pad to train and play out of, Last season Manchester & Cardiff didn't have either at the start of the season. The fixtures are too far apart. Well , be thankful that both teams are playing at there respective rinks, be thankful its not 4 days notice and in Belfast, I know a lot like to travel, especially for the final. Who should get the home ice advantage? well for a start it should be 1 game not 2 at neutral ice. This would remove home / away ice advantage.

Looking forward to this already.
We should have our new man in by then and hopefully Sheffield will be at full strength. Will be interesting to see two full strength teams go at it.
Another trophy won't do the team ANY harm at all in the confidence stakes.

According to the Steelers Web Page it says the following:- If they do not turn up for the 2nd Leg in Feb, do we get a 5 - 0 win? Ha! Ha! Tickets are NOW on general sale in the Panthers blocks, so if you are waiting until Saturday, you may miss the better seats.

Nice to see an explanation from the GM for the gap between the CC final dates, in the match program vs Vipers.
There was reference to the concerns from the fans and I think the reasons given by the Panthers are legitimate.
Interesting to see that the League gets a chunk of the money.

I read it as: Basicly Sheffield using every dirty trick in the book to get the second leg played at their barn, even though they couldn't manage to win their group! LOL GM wasn't amused and made sure we got the second leg and well done to him i say!

LOL GM wasn't amused and made sure we got the second leg and well done to him i say! LOL, and I thought Steelers finished TOP of their group, just ahead of Newcastle.....otherwise Panthers would have played Steelers in the Semi-Final! ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Sounds like typical spin, neither side are Saint's and know a few tricks, it aint jus one sided....In fact just after the dates were announced Simmsy's was quite open and frank about why they were mid week dates, because the league took a big cut of the gate receipts. In all honesty the Panthers have got 2 for 1 by holding out for the 2nd leg as they did, they get the Full House they would have got anyway whilst at the same time they help trash the potential for the Steelers to draw a crowd of 6000 to 7000 to the deciding 2nd leg (as there would have been more available seats to sell to all the part time Panthers and Steelers fans who appear at these deciding games), Well done GM ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

Look at the Semi Final Table on the Elite League Web Page. It is as follows. Challenge Cup Semi-Finals Table.1 Nottingham 2 2 0 0 0 0 10 5 4 5 2 Sheffield 2 1 0 1 0 0 6 4 3 2 3 Cardiff 2 0 0 1 1 0 4 6 1 -2 4 Newcastle 2 0 0 0 2 0 5 10 0 -5 Panthers won the choice of having the 2nd leg by topping the table with 4 points out of 4. Steelers have 3 points out of 4. It is as simple as that. Panthers won both their games and had the choice, and therefore ensured they got it. Simmsy knows that, but thought he would try it on anyway as Panthers let Newcastle have the 2nd leg in the Semi's because we only had the one Ice Time Slot available to us.
