Unless either Moore or Lagrone return, it’s going to be a tough weekend with 5 d and one of them being Kelsall

I’d hope Moore is close to a return, if they both aren’t then I’d expect we’re trying to sign a right shot d man. Sam Lofquist has been mentioned on this forum before and still doesn’t have a club, wonder if he’d be viable!

Last time out v Devils at home I could see us pulling off the result we did. Devils are the bigger team we raise our game against quite often. The rut we are in now is woeful. Add to that the injuries and last nights result and it's really not looking good. Devils have also started to look better in the league with 4 wins on the bounce. I cant see anything other than a pasting. Possibly even worse than last night.
I didn't see the game last night so cant really comment on performances. Saviour Berry was in goal though. Was he just let down by the team in front of him or did he contribute to the scoreline? I fully expect to see it switched back to the other average nettie tonight, which'll make all the difference.

I fully expect to see it switched back to the other below average nettie tonight, which'll make all the difference. Fixed that for you. If only the 2 netminders were indeed average, in EIHL SP% terms, that would mean Panthers would've conceded 9 fewer goals so far this season. Goalies with SP%s in the 88s don't win much at all. And it isn't all to do with "good teams have good goalies" as Muse and Brodeur are 4th and 5th on the SP% list, well over 92% each, on teams who are 6th and 10th. Shane Owen is a respectable 91.21% for Fife who are 8th.

At least some Panthers will definitely score today. Hopkins has picked up 2 for GB u20s against the hosts Lithuania. Still time to get the hattrick.

Devils missing four imports then... Louis,Jardine,Coughler and Reid so there can be no excuses for Panthers being short.

Devils have only five regular D men tonight with only two being imports. Panthers have three import D. Their Brits are Mark Richardson, Josh Batch and Reece Kelly (21 year old who has a year of NIHL plus some youth hockey in Scandinavia). We have Jordan Kelsall and Archie Salisbury, a forward and a 16 year old. They are in a better position with defensive absences than us.

And there’s your difference between a decently built team and one that isn’t. How long now this year have Panthers struggled on D The D didn’t look great to start with,Caruso keeps getting injured, Lagrone too and he’s in the last chance saloon now, Brassard is a liability,Moore is poor,Hazeldine was barely even expected to play and then they bring in a 16 year old. And what have Panthers done about the poor D since the start of the season...nothing,absolutely nothing other than a 16 year old ! They’re at home, three imports to the good, had a night off last night whilst Devils battled Belfast then travelled, there can be no excuses for not winning tonight, if they don’t they want shooting. I guess they will win, but that shouldn’t mask the problems they’ve got.

Finishes 5-2, Welychka with the empty netter.
By all accounts we played really well. Could the Panthers let me know which team is showing up to each game? I've managed to miss the 2 Cardiff games but somehow show up at that Flyers game.

Just when you think you're at rock bottom you get a home game against Cardiff to remind you this sport is kinda ok at times.
Nice.

Coming to say what I have to say all to often after these games. It doesn't mask, hide or take away from everything that is wrong, but just have to enjoy the result for what it is in isolation. The only thing missing from the game was an actual fight. Lots of hits early on to set the tempo, plenty of hand bags, and some good goals. Debeau had a good game. A few big saves early on. Then it was very quiet for him up until the final 5 minutes of the 2nd. The forwards playing D did a great job and the 3 Dmen all had great games. Gagnon was outstanding for me. To cover whoever he was paired with he was swapped from left to right pretty much every other shift. His outlet pass for the first goal was a beauty too. Sorensen is starting to play the game we need to see more of. He needed to take his rat levels up a notch or 2 and by doing so tonight got under Devils skin.
I dont know what it is about Cardiff but can we play them again next week.
