Cardiff fan in peace.
There were probably two short spells where the Panthers looked threatening, one of which they scored from.
But Coughler laid a huge hit and apart from a couple of words there wasn’t a big hit coming back our way.
Didn’t see the kicking penalty at all, didn’t notice until Bowns went to go off. So no idea on that one.
Seemed the Devils had another gear or two, but so did the Panthers which was a bit surprising considering their recent form.
Your goalie is entertainment if nothing else.

Obviously not at the game but by the look of the score, away to Cardiff, just another interminable rinse and repeat result. Same thing season on season, a copy and paste from multiple season's before.

It never is and our road form is certainly something that GG needs to address and quickly but it baffles me why some people seem determined to believe that Panthers haven’t changed and are still stuck in the Moran era. But we now have people in charge that are determined to make us the best we can be even if on the ice we have a couple of false starts. Yes I believe with these players we have that we should be delivering more but I also believe that there is determination to put that right now instead of the malaise that we were previously in

Away with you... It's the home form that concerns me most. A benchmark for me is .8 hockey at home and 0.6 hockey on the road. Over a 54 game season that would give a team 76 points, 0.700 hockey, which is there or thereabouts most seasons. 0.7 hockey has won the EIHL. Play above that and you're well in with a chance. Play below it and you're generally not in the race. It's Panthers home form that lets them down lately. The last few seasons, the league records have been 21/22 0.537 / 0.482 19/20 0.609 / 0.652 (yes, better away than at home that season) 18/19 0.667 / 0.500 17/18 0.714 / 0.554 An average of the 2 gets you to the total points percent. For me, Panthers need to be much better at home. Over the season, the away record isn't generally far away, even last season it wasn't terrible.

My point being, this result could have come from any of the previous nine seasons. Surely some kind of change would be a reasonable expectation? Similar results throughout the rest of this season would be seen as acceptable by yourself I assume?

It was an away defeat in Cardiff which I would put money on happening to every team at some point this season. Yes a change would be a reasonable expectation but with a massive upheaval during the summer I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect there to be no bumps in the road. Yes I do expect an improvement in both results and performances but at this early stage I am not expecting the end product this early especially with key injuries in the squad.

I can accept a defeat away in Cardiff but I was disappointed last night due to the manner of the defeat. We seemed to be playing with the same lack of energy that we saw prior to playing Sheffield at home, we were far too passive and didn’t play with any aggression at all. The only player who even attempted to ruffle a few feathers was Sorenson and that was only after Levin had be flattened.
You’ve got to up your game when you play Cardiff, Belfast and Sheffield, the last Sheffield home game was a template of what is required, last night was miles away from it. It’s up to the coach to figure out the reasons why that is and fast.
Last night was not the end of the world though. We have had a difficult start to the season with injuries, if there’s concerns with some players then it would be an ideal opportunity to use IR to try and rectify some issues.
