February's nuggets. From 6 games 3-2-1 record, 16 GF, 19 GA. Shot were 168 F vs 227 A Leader in shots indiviually was Hammond, 17, then Levin, 16, Lindgren, 15 then Anderson 13. (Anderson has only had 57 shots all season).
Team-wise, total -18, Brassard, Izacky and Anderson the only 3 + players, +1, +2 and +2 respectively. Myers at -4 is the other end.
Top points scorer was Levin, 3+4, then Hammond, 2+3, Ricci 1+3 (though one of the assists is an error), Gagnon 4 assists. No-one scored points in more than 4 of the 6 games, and only Levin scored 4 (excepting the erroneous Ricci assist vs Giants) Jones has played all 6, 208 saves from 226 shots, 92.04%. Take out the game vs Giants and it's 182, 194 and 93.81%.
PP 2 for 10, 20%. 978 seconds on the PP. PK 14 for 16, 87.5%. 1686 seconds on the PK.
Myers was 76/126 in the dot in February, 60.32%.
Of the 20 periods played, Panthers won 6 and lost 9, with 5 draws. Panthers conceded 5 in a period for the second time this year in game 40, both vs Belfast.
Panthers comfortably have the least amount of PPGs scored of any EIHL team this season, with 20. 4 teams have scored 36 or more. Dundee have scored an incredible NINE 5 on 3 PPGs. That said, Panthers have conceded the second least PPGs, with 24 and have second least PKOpps with 122 (Flames least with 18 from 109 PKOpps, Storm most with 40/172) and are joint league leaders with 6 SHGs. Steelers are still the only EIHL team yet to concede a SHG this season.

Before last night...
Sorenson has taken a penalty in the last 5 games, the longest consecutive streak by a Panther all season. Panthers have spent 2148 seconds on PKs on Soresnson penalties, next most is Caruso, 1,442. Panthers have conceded 5 goals on the 15 penalty kills caused by penalties to Gagnon. (And are 3 conceded on 3 penalties to Lagrone, but that's a small sample size) Panthers are 0 for 16 on the PP vs Glasgow this season. Conversely, 4 for 16 vs Belfast. They are 23 for 24 on the PK vs Devils (a perfect 10 for 10 at home) but only 7 for 11 vs Blaze. In the last 13 games, Panthers have gone 33 for 36 on the PK, but only 3 for 34 on the PP. Panthers have been outshot in 15 of their last 18 games. -152 in games outshot, vs +53 in the rest (35 of those in one game, the 2-1 loss to Clan at home) Panthers outshot their opposition 18 times in the first 26 games. Gagnon is the only current Panther with points against all 9 other EIHL teams.

As the OS continue to show Manchester above us in the league standings, though regulation wins take precedent at seasons end. That league looks a tad odd with Manchester acclaimed as a play-off qualifier but Nottingham not. Yet calculate all teams possible final points tally and start to wonder what goes on with Elite. Two other teams cannot catch us. www.eliteleague.co.uk/standingsEdit: They’ve woken up to the fact now.

How about this for a telling graph? It shows the rolling 10 game powerplay percentage for the season, for what most thought last Sepetember would be the 4 "contenders". No wonder Giants are about to win the league. Attachments:

Here's another belter. The 4 lowest instances this season of shots recorded by a team in a game have all been away teams in games at the Sheffield Arena. 11 x1 (last night), 12 x2 (10 Sept vs Devils and 20 Nov vs Giants) and 14 x1 (2 Dec vs Devils). Steelers have lost 3 of those games.

Was asked a question by someone yesterday as regards the teams win rate in the league. My answer was...
Elite era 03-04 60.71% 04-05 50% 05-06 54.76 06-07 53.70 07-08 57.41 08-09 68.52 09-10 60.71 10-11 61.11 11-12 70.37 12-13 78.85 13-14 48.08 14-15 55.77 15-16 57.69 16-17 50.00 17-18 58.93 18-19 48.33 19-20 58.70 (incomplete league) 20-21 50.00 ( series league) 21-22 46.30
It’s just over 40% this season , so the worst season thus far.

Objectively (above) and subjectively, this has been the worst season it's been my pleasure to watch. Almost no positives at all to come out of it, I'm afraid.

Objectively (above) and subjectively, this has been the worst season it's been my pleasure to watch. Almost no positives at all to come out of it, I'm afraid. Bar the opening Elite era season, it was 2008 to 2013 the time to be watching it seems. Anyone thereafter have rather been 'in hope' of a league title.

Didn't we win 42 of 52 in our best ever season, 80.77%? Bar the opening Elite era season, it was 2008 to 2013 the time to be watching it seems. Our league title seems to have been a watershed moment, in the worst way. Since we won it we've put up all 6 of our worst ever Elite League seasons, in terms of points % at least. We'd never come in below .600 before that, we've done it 6 times, including this current stinker, since. Today's loss confirms this as our worst ever season (.500 at best), taking that unwanted award from last season's effort.

Stats get easier (time factor) each week as there is not a lot to add.
Anyhow, news this day is that J.C.BRASSARD has chalked up his 50th penalty minute.

Tanner Sorenson hits 100 pims

Just because...
Welychka looks likely ( bar a late surge by Brady) to be our top goal scorer over the whole season . Levin and Hammond fight out for the assist title ( bar a Brady/Welsh catch up). Then we have Brady/Hammond/Welsh and Levin very close on points haul with an outside chance of a Sorenson overtake for top points.
So we could have three different players pitching in for these top spots. Regardless of that, the League totals take precedence for these ‘home’ awards. To note, Sorenson 100 and Gagnon 98 pit as our most penalised player.
Let’s see what materialises.

Well, well, a loss but at least scoring again. Not as many as the opposition though. But have a better shot count than the opposition, so I guess not much changes.
GAGNON reaches the 100 pims for this season too.
We lose against Manchester on the last day of March and we finish seventh.
Presently top assists - Levin 31, Hammond 29, Welsh 26, Brady 25 top points - Levin 44, Brady/Welsh 43, Hammond 42

For 6th place in the League Friday We have to win and at least in OT/pens Saturday We have to win A) if in OT previous game - in regulation If in regulation previous game - OT is ok We must not allow Manchester more than one point over both games.

Still in there for 6th place finish. Must get a win and those two points are enough. But would we prefer a different team as Play Off opponents.
Biggest excitement is who will be top man for Assists, points and naughty boy penalty taker.

Well, we see the end of the League schedule. 7th
Congratulations to Matthew Myers on his 150th goal for the club.LeagueWelychka top goal scorer Hammond/Levin most assists (Levin played one game less) Hammond top points scorer - I mention these now as the club celebrated the wrong man last year in one category I support the whole season and thus the final player stats for these totals myself, rather than just the League facts. Those figures are to follow, so lets see what materialises. *************************************************************************************** Your LEAGUE campaign TOP GOAL SCORER. I'm going to do a check on the numbers now before we move on into the play-offs. Here we come Guildford.

Final league stats updated. Nothing to play for reason for silly scores. Bit like 3rd and 4th play-off game in the finals weekend. All Cup and League stats tally, just to check that the all games stats do the same with play-offs to add soon.
Congratulations BELFAST GIANTS on the League title. Guildford a good runner up this season.

Goals...Welychka 25, Brady/Sorenson 20 Maybe if we take the 3rd place game really seriously, one of them can run up 5 goals and save us having to pretend our top scorer isn't the guy who left months ago?

Indeed, they are obviously attending to 'on-ice' players left in the squad only. But that's not the way to go. They can't even relate that to the League either which the general end of season awards DO tend to factor as the Goals/Assists/Points tally.
