Looking forward to the next Coach's Corner Podcast. Gary Graham does a really good job describing the players, what they bring and hopes

Whilst I get the historical cynicism, I think we need to give Pacha and Graham a bit of slack. This (feels like) the biggest shift in culture I can remember at Panthers in my 22 years of watching. I think we need to focus on what’s ahead this season rather than comparing to years gone by, Pacha and GG have earned that from the small changes they’ve made so far. Would I like the last 2 forwards to be budget blowing NHLers? Of course, but I don’t think we ‘need’ them to be. As others have said, our depth in goal production on paper looks as good as others at the moment. If Hammond and Anderson are the 2 signings, then we’ve done very very well, if it’s not them, I don’t think we can complain. Unless it’s Hedberg! This Certainly not against 2 top line studs - but let’s be realistic, we hope for this every year and are always disappointed. That’s because usually we haven’t signed the likes or Sorenson, Ferrara, Brady, Johnston etc already, and we are hoping they will be the last 2 simply to compete. We have an immensely deep squad ON PAPER and this is all we can go off for the minute. Everyone is a wait and see signing, even the players who have played here before. Just look at Darcy Murphy last season at Belfast for example. Some players Will inevitably dissapoint, some players will inevitably overachieve. But as a team we look to be there or thereabouts as far as I can see at the minute with Hammond and Anderson still to be announced (in theory)

I'm not unhappy ( can't speak for others). I just expect us to compete for the league every season. We don't. Based on resources we should. I first came in 1986 and we have won it once since based on Ling mainly. So far our recruitment seems better but we have been a million miles off and we should aim high and not accept being out of a title race in November. Just my view Clearly you are unhappy with how you are wording your posts If I was I'd say I was, thus 'I'm not unhappy...' Moving on, the sound bites are encouraging and yes I'm hopeful that by November we remain hopeful. I've just been here a few times. Here's hoping. 👍

Sorry meant to add to the above post not just post it again.
I totally agree with this post. Last year we were desperate for the last two signings to be of the quality that we have already signed this year. I expected there to be at least couple of wait and see signing with a less spectacular CV's. Just as the last Dman is.
Whatever we would like there is still a set budget and a wage cap. So if we are going with a extra import nettie and some good quality signings there has to be some lower signings. We just hope the coach has the right contacts to find some lower signings that turn out to be gems. Much in the way Corey did with the likes of Mosley.
It would be nice for the last two forwards to be more top end signings but they could be players in the mould of Bergin, Benedict ect. Players that bring a lot to a team other than out and out point production.

I'm not biting... he's a wait and see for me as opposed to a likely top drawer signing. I'm not being negative about him as he's youngish and had a decent last year. Hope he's a success. Re last two forwards I think we do need two studs to match OUR ( not the owner's) aspirations. Why? Once again..THIS..TEAM ..AS.. IT.. STANDS.. IS NOT.. SHORT.. OF.. GOAL ..PRODUCTION.... To be fair, you said last year's team WAS NOT CHEAP until they were crap, then you said they were. Interestingly, a poster on another forum who "predicts" scoring and is regularly there or thereabouts, has Steelers, Devils and Panthers all on similar goal tallies, with Giants a bit in front. What fun, eh?

What fun, eh? Yeah I saw that which I found hard to believe.. panthers literally have a player lile Brady on their 3rd line... I only see Steelers top 2 lines being productive. Quite a few have agreed panthers ain't short on goalscoring as it stands... None other than Mr Bullard..

What fun, eh? Ah yes Doom's infamous 'Spreadsheet'. He is normally in the ball park, think he may be a touch off this season though. To me the Steelers season rests on the shoulders of Brendan Connolly. Pre injury Connolly was quality, just can't see it now tbh. Even before his injury last season he was poor, add an injury and another year older to that mix, I think he'll struggle.

Given as Brady has never yet played a game for Panthers it's hard to tell yet what line he'll be on, or who with. And your record on Steelers-related predictions isn't great either. FWIW, I don't think they're short either (Hammond to potentially come makes it even more dangerous) I just am not at all convinced that the other teams mentioned are necessarily behind Panthers at this stage, so am being cautious in my optimism. Panthers look a darn sight like they should be more competitive this season, yes. But it's not played on paper. As you have said though, and I agree 101%, D wins you championships, so "goals" (alone and as such) are secondary.

I think a bigger achievement for Connelly this year will be completing the year without injury..🤣

Look back at what I’ve stated so far…not many times have my sources let me down! So it’s not a 100 percent gaurentee but they’ve got most others right

Hint not coming. KHL offer. Cant blame a guy if a big money offer comes in from a much higher lesgue. Morally though he's a horrible man(I'd rather use a 4 letter swear word). And not because he's breaking his contract with Panthers.

And not because he's breaking his contract with Panthers. It's been suggested in the past that player contracts have clauses if bigger leagues come calling. It's just a risk of signing people with experience in bigger leagues.

It's perhaps a political debate not worth having on the cage and I fully respect peoples right to see this differently.
