This is the bit that gets me. The players haven't performed, collectively certainly and for the most part, individually none have brought the stats we had expected. How has that happened, and could/should anyone at HQ have known? It's a gamble bringing new players in, but have all the new players come down tails except Welychka? Johnston, Brady, Ferrara and Hammond were point machines in previous EIHL stints. Not this year. How? Because the culture in Nottingham never gets the best out of players .. go back 30 years how many players have come in with decent CVs and disappointed.. Josh Shalla rings a bell to name one Agreed. The only constant in all this time is NB. Would love him to go

Because the culture in Nottingham never gets the best out of players But why? What is it, exactly, about the "culture" here that is so different from, say Storm? And we never signed an underwhelming player pre NB?

And we never signed an underwhelming player pre NB? Completely different set up and surroundings pre NB.. we played out a small rink with low revenue and still generally got more out of the majority of players.. most of the imports these days treat it as a jolly and wind down their careers .. Re:- The Storm, perhaps they are treated so much better there it certainly appears to be looking in from the outside.

Johnston, Brady, Ferrara and Hammond were point machines in previous EIHL stints. Not this year. How? You could talk about it all day because there’s that many factors and reasons that you could look into, on-ice chemistry and understanding with specific players, individual ability, previous experience. I’ll give you my opinion on some other factors on and off the ice. Firstly, with regards to those four, they all played at clubs where there isn’t the same expectation or pressure that there is in Nottingham. Also, they all previously played (in the EIHL) in rinks that are much smaller than ours. Maybe the systems that their coaches adopted for the those rinks benefitted them, gave them some on-ice success, and they carried that confidence throughout the season. I know you’ve mentioned confidence on here previously and that there appears to be a lack of it in their play. If a player is struggling their fellow team mates, coaching staff, off ice staff, all play a part in picking them up and helping them, but so do the fans and I feel at times we let them down. The lack of vocal support and atmosphere in the arena is poor but on social media, the constant negativity when it isn’t warranted, and sole focus on things that go wrong, without any balance and discussion of what’s going well, doesn’t help anyone. I’m not even talking about this forum either.

What's the point? Will he improve things? Maybe, but, for what purpose?

Yes, we could still win the playoffs, plus people have paid for the games. If we just don't bother all that'll be is more cash in Black & PML's back pockets.

Put up vast amount of points throughout his pro career, played in the AlpsHL least season and put up similar points to Tedesco of Guildford. Hopefully we hear some news soon

Would love him to go This and only then will the culture change, a new home rink would also help away from the politics and staleness of the NIC but thats never going to happen unless i win the lottery and I wouldn't build it Nottingham anyway

It’s little wonder good players don’t hang around long in Nottingham so they never have anything to build on. One day when Blacks gone and priorities change the full potential of hockey in Nottingham might be realised, but until then it’s not even worth bothering with anymore.

And also when a sponsor has a very cosy and undue influence over the club off ice. Which other 'professional' sports club would consistenyly back the sponsor over a coach? This happened again this season. I guess this means that the club thinks approx 25% of its squad being in a certain establishment regularly after midnight on a weekend (and I don't mean a sunday) is okay and will get the best out of its players... Or it could just be the sponsor likes it because said players are in their words 'spending money' So much for Omar wanting to implement a winning culture. Like Neil Black its all talk.

Not a rumour but a question about a rumour I've seen on the hockey forum that league to go to 15 imports next year?

Phillips,Peacock and Venus all retiring this season plus maybe some others so they’ve got to plug the gaps. Good let’s hope some more average Brits retire too to improve the overall quality.

Good let’s hope some more average Brits retire too to improve the overall quality. I think it’s being driven by the smaller clubs too because they can get more affordable imports with an increase than having to pay the premiums that Brits can get when the limit is lower
