Wasn't expecting that, I'm an optimistic Panthers Fan but I wasn't expecting a shutout. Panthers were amazing and I think we got The Steelers that the other teams have been beating. Carr was amazing as was Richards, his short handed goal was a thing of beauty. Doing the reverse of the last home game against them (Scoring within the 1st 20 seconds of the game) settled us down and I believe that also unlike the last game, we figured then out how to defend against them. They didn't have constant long periods in our zone, so that was another change. That being said, they had their chances and I've seen them take them multiple times before only this time, they didn't go in and the bounces went out way. Wasn't that many Penalties either, I wonder if that was result of the previous game where The Steelers got their Game Winning Goal of a controversial call. Crowd was buzzing afterwards and what was their Goalie complaining about, either he fell over or one of his teammates knocked him over. Oh, it was 100% Welshs stick that he tripped over. It was a complete accident though. Never a penatly.

Cracking result that Carr was outstanding Agreed. Carr with a very well deserved man of the match. Panthers were execptional and played Sheffield off the ice. 100% the better team tonight. Im going to enjoy the fact we had a great win against them tonight. A win that brings our poor run against them at home to an end. A win that also dents their title hopes. Its been a poor season so we fans deserve to enjoy that one. One thing that did suprise me though was Steelers lack of bite. They really didn't appear to have the edge of a team battling for a title. No rough stuff, no cheap shots, no big hits. All seemed a little odd on their part. Nothing away from Panthers at all though. An outstanding performance. Steelers without Mosey who provides energy, Vallerand clearly not 100%, Todd who is done for the season, and sat Traversa. Without the first and last they looked short of ideas.

Beat the Steelers ✓
Damage their title hopes ✓
Shutout for the Nettie ✓
What's not to love 😀
Result! Can't say I expected it but I'll definitely take a performance like that!

Very well played Panthers. Best performance of the season by far and whoever it’s down to, MM or Whistle, well done. And rest Carr for a backup? Behave yourself.

Great way to get that particular monkey off our backs. Lovely stuff. Not great for the Yorks title chances either. Always next year lads.

In a season full of very few highs... that was an immensely satisfying 60 minutes of hockey!! And on paper it meant absolutely zip all to us.
A clinical, disciplined performance and actually kept the tempo up for the whole game... when was the last time we could say that?
Now to make sure we don't nick any points from Belfast next week, can't be too difficult...

After that horrific run of league losses to Steelers at the NIC it was so good that the one we got is the one that truly mattered to Steelers in terms of them being at the business end of a title push. The atmosphere was spot on because the team were relentless in their effort plus it being a Saturday night helped that… it would’ve been nice to have made more of a fuss that Belfast were winning/had won to really rub it in too as opposed to a little strap line on the screen.
I will dispute that we kept the energy level up for the full 60. We were hell for leather in the first and I was concerned we would be gassed come the 3rd like last month when Steelers turned us over. What we actually did in the 2nd was slow the pace down which conserved the energy for the 3rd this time and it worked really well.
Carr was superb, absolutely dialled in for the full game for a change, can’t argue his MOM but someone who needs talking about after last nights game is Massy. He was brilliant, took the early chance, chose his moments to jump into the play, did his job on the back end. He is infinitely better than Doherty and one of only a few I wouldn’t be displeased to see next season.

Panthers won that cup several times over but it's all about the league where they are measured hey. Foxy had been heavily backed in the summer and during now they've hit a rut at the worst time

In fairness in his first year that was all he could win, as it got cancelled, then second was the Elite Series, then this.

Tremendous game, played for the full 60 minutes and never let up and didn't let the opposition get to us. Did fear that in the 3rd they might try to rough us up, but I guess they couldn't afford to with being key players out. Full credit to Carr for a stellar performance, I haven't rated him for much of the season as seems to 'wander' during games and let in soft ones and I still don't think he is a championship winning NM, but to put on a display like that shows what quality he can be.
I thought the officials called a good game, not too many penalties (2 per side), and let the game flow, which I think suited us.

Can anyone recall the last time we shut Sheffield out in a game?
I’ve got in my head that we shut them out in both legs of the CC semi-final in 2016? Was that the last time?
