Get ready for them to absolutely demolish us on Sunday nowđ
I donât know but itâs a strange one. The atmosphere for the Cardiff games is always good, they bring a lot of away fans, our fans in turn make it loud, maybe it gets our lads going. I think Cardiff like to dictate the play and this also works in our favour, makes the games more open. If you look at a team like Glasgow this season who have come to the NIC three times, played physical, let us have the majority of the puck, focused on team defence and keeping us to the outside, theyâve won all three games.
If Cardiff play in the same way as Glasgow, theyâll take the win. Theyâve got that little bit of extra quality that will allow to play this way and still be a big threat offensively.

We have seemed to match up well to Cardiff in recent seasons, even though we'd be miles off them in the final standings. Must be quite a few unexpected wins at their place in recent years?
This year's lot, maybe not so much, guess we'll find out. 3rd in 3 won't help.

We play absolutely đ© against everyone home and away Apart from Cardiff at home We have won 7 of the last 10 at home against them 2016-17, 2 wins and an OT loss in that order. 2017-18, 2 wins and a loss. All 3 in 18-19 won by the odd goal, including a 4 goal third period on 26 September 2018 to win 4-3. 19-20, 2 losses and a win. 21-22 so far, 1 game 1 win. I think you might be looking for something that isn't really there? Belfast's only goal vs the Panthers at the NIC in 3 games last season proper was a 6 on 3 PP goal. That wasn't the start of a trend, sadly.

It's pure circumstance, the league table at the end of every season NEVER lies.
Cardiff are a better team than us & have been for a fair few seasons.

Because I predicted that as exactly what would happen to Neil Black a few years ago at his last Q+A at Saltbox. There were some Devils fans sat in the corner who I pointed to and told Black âtheir team will be the dominant team in the EIHL over the next few yearsâ. I wasnât wrong either !

If you make enough "predictions", one or two of them are bound to be right, in the long term. It's a numbers game. Media careers have been made out of a roughly similar ideas. Don't forget, the Great Prophet Zarquon did eventually get his second coming. His followers were, eventually, right.

Was this after they'd been taken over by the Canadians and Kelman, and had IAW on the horizon (or already moved in)?

It was just around the same time as the takeover was due to happen and with Kelman in charge and hockey nut owners it wasnât hard to see what was likely to happen. Except Neil Black didnât agree with me and said something like âI wouldnât be so sure about thatâ. Mmmm ok Neil if you say so ! đ

Well in a way he was right, Belfast and Sheffield have taken their fair share of titles in those years, Cardiff haven't really dominated. The last Q&A at SaltBox was in 2017 btw.

The last 7 EIHL trophies awarded since the Great Prophet Iggy proclaimed have been awarded 3 to Cardiff, 3 to Belfast and 1 to Sheffield. So, to be fair, Devils have been joint most dominant in that time. Did he predict that?

Give him stick if you want, he was right. And those of us without our head up our asses knew it too Predicting the best three ran teams in the country to be better than Panthers wasn't very difficult. To stand there afterwards & proclaim look how right I was takes far less humility.

I would say that if you asked EIHL fans to pick a team whoâve been the dominant force over the last few years youâd be hard pushed to find many who wouldnât pick Cardiff. It certainly wasnât Mr Blacks Nottingham thatâs hot sure.

There will be plenty of people who remember that night at Saltbox when Black was squirming on stage. And yes I was the bloke sat at the front who gave him a hard time.

Was this after they'd been taken over by the Canadians and Kelman, and had IAW on the horizon (or already moved in)? Well if it was at the last Q&A at Saltbox as maintained (Jan 2017) then it can't also been "around the same time as the takeover was *due to happen* and with Kelman in charge and hockey nut owners it wasnât hard to see what was likely to happen". The take over happened before the 2014-15 season right? They'd come 3rd and 2nd in the league already (well ahead of us), won one Cup and were on their way to winning the league, playoffs and cup that season. So they'd showed their form relative to us and their trajectory over the past 2.5 seasons. So it's still an accurate prediction Iggy but not quite as much of a divination as it sounds if you've misremembered the dates
