It's given you something else to get upset about, so there's that at least. I’m not upset,I couldn’t give a monkeys if they’ve only got ten men and get thrashed every game. I’m just asking what’s the point of having those two on the books.

A chance to train with the club, improve them a bit. Get them into the club system.
We expected to have 18 today, so we would only have taken 1 of them. Given MCP can play for Peterborough tonight, that would mean Hopkins. Why they decided not to, who knows, maybe he's injured, but either way he's a 17 year old and isn't going to change the result tonight.
I can understand having a go at the general makeup of our roster, not having 14 full time imports to start with, digging up British fossils to plug the gaps, but those two? Very, very minor details on the season.

Class tells. The last 5 games or so were always a false dawn. Plenty of effort, not so much quality. Yup proves the roster is miles behind the big 3

If I was coach Hopkins would have a regular roster spot at the very least

I don’t think there was much between the two teams tonight if I’m being honest. I don’t think Carr had a great game though if I’m being critical, I thought their 1st and 4th he could have done better with but yet again both goals stem from one of our dmen being too aggressive on the attack and not being cautious enough leaving odd man rushes. We were unlucky not to get something out of the game though I feel, overtime would have been fair. Good to see us get 2 well worked PPG’s and Hedberg played really well on that 1st line.
I don’t think we’re going to have a game this season though where we get to play a team with 14 imports and 5 Brits and no injuries to restrict our selection. Ah well, I’m sure Doucet will have better luck getting players in next season.

Genuine question. Have we had a single game this year where we have had a full bench. IE we have the full allowance icing?

Can someone, who actually saw the game, give a synopsis on it as per usual most of the posts are from the resident club haters / detractors who miss no opportunity to gloat on losses and aver that they no longer watch games.

Well if YOU watched it you wouldn’t need a synopsis from somebody else would you !

A very even game, which I thought could have gone either way, Sheffield scored two goals in quick succession at the start of the third period and we couldn’t claw it back, their 3rd was well worked but the 4th was poor. The final SOG were 32-24 in our favour, Sheffield had 6 SOG in the 3rd and scored 2 of them. We didn’t have that clinical touch to take the lead in the game earlier on, in the 1st Brassard hit bar after another well worked play and in the 2nd period Thow hit the post twice and the puck was scrambled away, in which doing so Sheffield did take a penalty and we did score on it. We look to have found a decent powerplay unit now though which is pleasing. Maybe my tinted specs are misleading me but I thought there were some very, very soft calls against us that weren’t called against Sheffield. But ultimately Sheffield have that little bit of quality, especially speed, which always makes them dangerous, we don’t seem to have that unfortunately.

Panthers played very very well and the Steelers played pretty much within themselves and I think they had a higher gear if needed. No complaints about the Panthers at all and they worked very hard all night and you can't ask any more from them than that. Sheffield are just a much better team and a Panthers win would have been an upset. Refs called some howlers for both teams, the one on Eberle was just terrible. It's the EIHL so this is going to happen. Why oh why more teams don't learn from the Steelers on video and match night experience I just can't imagine. Light years better than anyone else and that together with a good team explain why they had over 8400 in there last night. Our new guy? Not really too sure. Very good skater and obviously has good skill but he looks to me like a guy with an injury or in the recovery process.

“Lower body”. Rushed back too quick Harsh to say rushed given the amount of games he's missed. He was hobbling around with crutches on a strapped-up foot for weeks and then all of a sudden he's back on the ice. I am betting that the lower-body injury is very much related.

Someone touchy about criticism? So might i but when you live 450 miles away like me even a home game is not possible. Not that I would go to the NIC anyway,if I was to go to a game I’d rather give my money to the other clubs by going to away games.

Clarke-Pizzo is playing, and scoring, for Peterborough at the moment. Hopkins was playing for Telford on both Saturday and Sunday. He is their 3rd highest point scorer with 32 points from 21 games (11+21)

I am betting that the lower-body injury is very much related. He missed 13 league games and 4 cup games, and played 7 in his return before being it seems injured again. If it is related, it took 7 games to show itself? Normally, if a sportsman comes back from injury too soon, it shows immediately.

He is their 3rd highest point scorer with 32 points from 21 games (11+21) Decent haul as a 17 year old. 1.5pts per game. Top players in that league go at 2pts per game (currently Kieran Brown the ex-Steeler who is still only 20). I think it's important to find the right use for him at Panthers. He is a points scorer, sticking him on the proverbial 4th line isn't good for his development. Get him game time primarily in the NIHL with training at Panthers and occasional games.

Normally, if a sportsman comes back from injury too soon, it shows immediately. He's been very careful and off the pace. A couple of times he's taken his time getting back up onto his skates and one time he was struggling to get back to the bench after clattering the boards
