Is it me or did that second game for Steelers start before the stipulated 3pm? In Denmark the time would be earlier too.

From the Steelers/Riga game report:
Either the Yorks have got yet another new netminder, or Mikelis Redlihs' goal was all too much for the Elite League scribes.

Since they don't even know how to read a player's stats or spell Europe I'd put nothing past their incompetence... "Bacashihua most recently played for the Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák in Hungary's cross-border Erste Liga. The 39-year-old was a #26 overall pick by the Dallas Stars in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and played *six games* in the show. He moved to Euripe in 2012..." No my friend that's the years column of his stats. 6 years in the NHL or 38 games. But it could have been worse they could have swapped it the other way and gone with 38 years 🙄 And that's just two of the errors in a single paragraph of a recent release #Basics www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/1742-bacashihua-joins-storm-as-injury-cover

"Action this week starts on Tuesday night in Guildford - the Flames host Glasgow at the Spectrum able to go top of the table, the the Clan look to improve on their 50% record through two games."
Three "the"s in 4 words, good effort. Special mention for the end part, a prize awaits for most pointless use of a statistic. 50% record in a whole 2 games? Won one and lost one, then, eh?
"Guildford have not list in regulation since 30 October..." Or lost, I bet.
"Glasgow got their first win of the season in Nottingham on Sunday, moving them to a .500 record through two games played." They love it so much they repeated it the next day.
"Clan netminder Shane Starrett has stopped 93.67% of shots which is a league high, although he's only been in net for 119 minutes to date." At least they acknowledge it here.

To be honest, there is no defence for so many mistakes on their website. It suggests that the person writing this is either incompetent or has no ice hockey knowledge (or both).

I would forgive the use of 'stanza' personally. It's a known 'lazy' sports colloquialism. Like playing count the number of times to say "back of the net" on Match of the Day! That's a drinking game that would put you in A&E most weeks, especially when Shearer is on. Okay, it's lazy and makes a nonsense of it (as much weak commentary does) but I'll forgive them that one perhaps. Happy to put my hand up when required and bow to the wisdom of the forum on this one But I'm struggling to also forgive a writing that sees a 0.29% win rate as being one of the "form teams" 🙄, that misses entire sections out of game reports or gets the length of a period wrong. The Elite League website is supposed to be the one central place where we can find it what is happening and what happened in games. But so often recently it feels like trying to interpret something that's been put through Google translate twice, whilst drunk, then published unchecked its rather like the use of 'back of the net' in every day conversation to refer to achieving something, such as 'i managed to walk in a straight line today, back of the net !'

This has become part of my morning routine. Breakfast, coffee, shower, go and get at least 2 EIHL website schoolboy errors. "Guildford went three ahead through John Dunbar at 24:44 and should have extended their lead later in the period, occasionally being guilty of a pass to many on some well-worked scoring chances ..." A pass to many? #Grammar101. "The Flames had the better start to period three but were unable to take advantage of their changes." I'm thinking "chances" was what was intended there? And I know they can type "chances" because they did above. I think we're at the stage now where it would only take a "should of" to tip me over the edge.

"Updates have been make to goals, assists and plus-minus from Week 9's games in the Premier Sports Elite League.
Additionally, a goalscorer was changed in the cup game between Manchester & Nottingham on 14 November; and edits have been made to Guildford Flames goals on: 25 September, 6 November and 13 November." (this last detail would not normally follow the first line, - spik)

AGAIN spelling for a professional outfit working on a website to the public. 'Made' I am sure is the word they are looking for.
Spelling mistakes being so regular, I wonder if we could spare them these spelling mistakes from now on and just make aware here the other oddities only or this thread will be a million pages long by the seasons end. Shall we do that and still see what becomes apparent?
Indeed as regards this 'notice' which is very useful, it has to be said. What is the guideline for week 9. A Saturday to Friday or Monday to Sunday week? Dating/title to the game changes would be far more appropriate.

Fair point re shooting fish in a barrel.
And also re "What actually is week x"?
It would take so little effort to be so much better.

When an ice plant failure is the cause of your losing streak... "Coventry were beaten in Manchester last Friday before being forced to cancel a second straight home game after a plant failure at the Skydome, *bringing up* a two-game losing streak for Danny Stewart's side." Bringing up???🙄 Er no, they had a two game losing streak already. The cancelled game just meant they couldn't play their game and maybe break the streak. Though I think most people would think two is barely a streak either... www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/1786-clan-set-to-celebrate-homecoming-against-blaze

"....and 90 seconds later the Storm were level through Dallas Ehrhardt's softly struck shot from the top of the circle on the powerplay. Storm completed their turnaround with their third goal in under as many minutes thanks to Frankie Melton, and led 3-2 with only 30:24 of the period played. Welsh's cross-crease pass bounced in off Robbie Baillargeon to bring the Panthers level three minutes later, but at 36:12 Brady and Ehradt played a nice give-and-go with the former slotting home to put Storm back ahead." I suspect it must've felt like a long game last night, but half an hour periods? It always amazes me how you can get a name right in one sentence and miss 2 letters out 30 odd words later. I'm starting to think whoever writes this stuff doesn't even know the basic details of ice hockey or have any understanding of sport! From today's offering: "Saturday night has two of the form teams, Fife and Coventry, clashing in Kirkcaldy," So Fife are an in form team are they? With a 0.29% win rate? Yes they won the first of their two games at the weekend, but as that's only their second win out of 7 with a big gap to the previous how that makes them a form team is beyond me! 😳 It's just nonsense they're writing now www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/1706-week-8-is-here"Aside from a home thrashing of Guildford, the Stars have lost 12 games since the middle of last month and are have the league's worst points percentage by some distance at 14%." So now we know the parameters. It takes a 14% win rate to equal bad but only 29% = good Talk about setting the bar low for the season... www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/1788-storm-make-first-visit-of-season-to-tayside.

Well the 'in form' Flyers have just beaten the Flames (who must have been in 'out of this world' Connor McDavid form. Maybe they are just crazy geniuses?

Not so sure about their genius status given that.... "Nottingham earned their first win of the season in Sheffield with an overtime goal in the final group stage game of the 2021/22 Premier Sports Challenge Cup season." Really? Could have sworn we'd won a few others already. If only they'd written... "Nottingham earned their first win in Sheffield this season with..." It's not a big change but it at least means the word order prevents you seeming to say something very different from what you meant, something very not genius... Once again what they wanted to say has to be dug out from the silliness that they've left themselves seemingly also saying. Other highlights "came flying out of the gates in the beginning of this one" Nice that they clarified that. It's not like "flying out of the gates" literally means immediately from the start or anything. Plus the usual spelling mistakes "drove the next" etc etc. Take two minutes more, reread *then* click publish. Is it really that hard? www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/1797-panthers-win-in-ot-after-late-steelers-comeback

'Guildford had a couple of powerplay chances but were kept very much to the outside by the Flyers' Very much so indeed sir.
'A double from Jacob Benson and a 30-shot shutout form Shane Owen helped the fife Flyers beat league leaders Guildford Flames on Saturday' where are these shutout forms from?
