Just popped onto the EIHL stats to see if anything has changed after no games since Sheffield’s 6-0 win over Fife (what’s he on about)...but of course there is , it’s the UK’s top indoor sport. League table - 1st Sheffield with 12 points, 2nd Nottingham on 8, 3rd Cardiff 7, 4th Coventry 7, (is this going anywhere? - yes), 5th Guildford EIGHT, 6th Dundee 3, 7th Manchester SEVEN, 8th Fife 2 and bottom is Belfast with FOUR just below Glasgow not having played a game.
I don’t have to explain do I?

I don’t have to explain do I? Maybe just an updating issue as seven minutes later it's back to correct order again for me. Though Dundee is showing as 2pts now. Sounds like someone was tweaking something

But having history, thought I was onto something, so points deducted.

I'm taking my points back again now.

You know things must be bad when the League opts to calculate Brust's percentage only on his last three games... ....But then still can't bring themselves to publish it 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ #CopyCheckPlease #Basics "These two teams are not short of firepower or goaltending options. In Tyler Beskorowany the Giants boast the cup's strongest goalie (96.05%), while Sheffield/s Rok Stojanovic leads league goalies on 93.84%. *Steelers' Barry Brust in just over 112 minutes across his last three games*." www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/1686-tonight-early-crunch-meeting-between-steelers-and-giants

But at least they didn't get the content wrong. Oh no wait... 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/1685-tonight-blaze-looking-to-secure-progress-in-cup"The Blaze have only two points from *six* group stage games, just a win more than Manchester who are the last-placed team overall. The top eight teams from nine qualify for the next round. Tonight’s trip to Ice Arena Wales is Coventry’s *last game in the group stage*," Okay they've played 7 according to your own cup table. But even if you do put six not seven by mistake, how can you not realise that both your statements can't be correct when there are 8 games in the group. 6 games plus "last game" equals 7 🙄 It's not like you don't know there are 8 games in the group stages when you're simultaneously publishing a piece about Belfast having won their group by winning 7 of 8: "Giants sit at 50% in the league but have been dominant in the Premier Sports Challenge cup, comfortably winning their group with seven wins from eight." 🙄🤦🏾♂️

"....and 90 seconds later the Storm were level through Dallas Ehrhardt's softly struck shot from the top of the circle on the powerplay.
Storm completed their turnaround with their third goal in under as many minutes thanks to Frankie Melton, and led 3-2 with only 30:24 of the period played.
Welsh's cross-crease pass bounced in off Robbie Baillargeon to bring the Panthers level three minutes later, but at 36:12 Brady and Ehradt played a nice give-and-go with the former slotting home to put Storm back ahead."
I suspect it must've felt like a long game last night, but half an hour periods? It always amazes me how you can get a name right in one sentence and miss 2 letters out 30 odd words later.

In fairness I've always thought Ehrhardt has way too many letters in his name.
Edit: "Ehradt" of course, isn't even a ballpark effort.

I'm starting to think whoever writes this stuff doesn't even know the basic details of ice hockey or have any understanding of sport! From today's offering: "Saturday night has two of the form teams, Fife and Coventry, clashing in Kirkcaldy," So Fife are an in form team are they? With a 0.29% win rate? Yes they won the first of their two games at the weekend, but as that's only their second win out of 7 with a big gap to the previous how that makes them a form team is beyond me! 😳 It's just nonsense they're writing now www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/1706-week-8-is-here

When you try and get so poetic writing about the ice hockey you forget it's not actually poetry you're writing about: "Cardiff’s efforts were eventually rewarded when Justin Crandall wired the equaliser past Owen on the powerplay in the dying minutes of the *stanza*." www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/1704-flyers-beat-devils-for-third-straight-home-winFor those not familiar, a stanza is the basic metrical unit in a poem consulting of a recurring grouping of lines. Much as you might try to make it apply to anything else that had breaks in it it doesn't mean that, doesn't apply and so is complete nonsense again.

Stanza is one of those oft used cliches, used by Commentators/writers who aren't regulars on the sport but have heard the terms used elsewhere. I blame Aaron Murphy with his 'puck to twine, oh so fine', 'gone bar down', etc etc.

I would forgive the use of 'stanza' personally. It's a known 'lazy' sports colloquialism.

Well, you can’t use “half”, can you? Why don’t they just use the word “period” because that’s what it is,a game of 3 periods. 🙄

Panthers have started using that because they’ve picked it up from you on here. I should think most fans wouldn’t have a clue what that even meant until they looked it up,me included, I’d never even seen the word until you used it and now it pops up quite often.

That's a drinking game that would put you in A&E most weeks, especially when Shearer is on. Okay, it's lazy and makes a nonsense of it (as much weak commentary does) but I'll forgive them that one perhaps. Happy to put my hand up when required and bow to the wisdom of the forum on this one But I'm struggling to also forgive a writing that sees a 0.29% win rate as being one of the "form teams" 🙄, that misses entire sections out of game reports or gets the length of a period wrong. The Elite League website is supposed to be the one central place where we can find it what is happening and what happened in games. But so often recently it feels like trying to interpret something that's been put through Google translate twice, whilst drunk, then published unchecked

Larcenous has been used in the NHL for some time. No great secret behind it. As for the Panthers using it... Well there's a reason they use my words occasionally...

The November Sunday 14th game in Coventry versus the 'Clan' was postponed due to an Ice rink plant problem. The Ice can't be ready for our game this weekend. the statement reads.
"While there is positive news in that the plant has been fixed, due to the complete loss of the ice pad last Sunday, despite working on it 24/7, ....etc...etc
but hang on the broken plant has only been such for FOUR days.

“The Latvian side earned this place in this stage by something through an earlier group phase in Budapest, surprising hosts Ferencváros to advance.”
Best yet?

“The Latvian side earned this place in this stage by something through an earlier group phase in Budapest, surprising hosts Ferencváros to advance.” Best yet? I can only think it's an auto translation of a report from, eg, Latvian, and therefore has no understanding of what has been translated.
