Back on Premier Sports as they were years ago.
Sponsoring the league as they have done with both Scottish football cups. Seems they're are putting money in too. Anyone know the rough figure?
Can't imagine it's too big an amount but knowing tge Elute leagues history with sponsors.... or lack of. Can only be a good thing.
Will be interesting to see if they retain the NHL rights as they expired at end of last season..

I think games shoen will mainly be mid week games as they show all the former Pro14 rugby games (8 in all) and those games will fill out most of their Saturday schedules.

And keep the obligation or showing games every week for 3 years...

I'm certain they'll show one of the Panthers Vs Steelers games at Christmas. Beyond that, likely Wednesday games.

Their OB vehicles will be available mid week as opposed to weekends when they are very busy with Major Sports..

No it sure don’t agreed, but who will stay in on a Saturday night to watch a sport they don’t have any interest in and have to pay for that privilege. It’s a catch 22 really.

Genuinely, does anyone really think hockey being on any kind of TV gets it any "new" fans? I can't imagine many people watched Grandstand in the 80s and thought "I must get down to the local rink?"? As Glynn says, who watches a sport they have no interest in when they can watch one they do? These days there's that much sport on TV and the net, even on your phone, you're spoilt for choice. Maybe it was different in the days of Tony Hand and Paul Adey, but even then...? Isn't hockey either a "word of mouth" thing (Panthers), or a "startup" thing (Glasgow)?

If it was free to air you might get some people watching it just because it's there to watch, I agree though that it being on a smaller subscription sports channel with a modest catalogue, it won't matter much. Midweek will probably make more sense, established EIHL fans are more likely to be free to watch it.
The real question is whether anyone will pay the 12.99 a month just to watch 27 games? I think we have a 270 game regular season, I'd like to see a few more on there for the money.
Don't want to knock it though, because any TV is better than none, and it's about time we had a title sponsor again.

By my count:
Devils = 6 (2h, 4a) Giants = 5 (1h, 4a) Clan = 5 (3h, 2a) Panthers = 4 (3h, 1a) Steelers = 4 (1h, 3a) Flyers = 3 (2h, 1a) Blaze = 3 (3h) Stars = 2 (2h) Flames = 1 (1a) Storm = 1 (1a)

Not bad for Steelers with away games. Bit galling for Blaze and Stars fans who get zero away games. Interestingly Storm and Flames get zero home games. Wonder if it's because if the difficulty in broadcasting well from those rinks.

I'm certain they'll show one of the Panthers Vs Steelers games at Christmas. Beyond that, likely Wednesday games. Well I was right about Christmas, but wrong on midweek. There's a lot of weekend fixtures on there. Big commitment from premier sports giving EIHL primetime (well as much as premier sports has primetime).

Out of the 17 games already announced 10 are Sunday, 2 are Saturday, 2 are Friday, 2 are Wednesday, and 1 on Monday.

It might help with sponsorship at a guess but new fans I can't see that. Ice hockey fans are fans and Premier is the ice hockey channel so at least it's a targetted audience but with the 2021 style of play in these Covid days no I can't see it putting a single bum on seat.

I've been a Premier subscriber since it started (along with all of the other sports channels) and I certainly get value with all of them but I think if you are just going to target Freeview users you would struggle to get them to shell out for match night tickets anyway. After almost two years out the arena was nowhere near full on Sunday and that was targetting existing supporters. Best way to bring in new supporters is to have a winning side that plays exciting hockey. I think at this point any promotional media is just preaching to the converted and I am interested to see what crowds are going to be like when the season proper starts.

3 of them at Nottingham, bet Mr Black is not happy fans watching on the box, and they are against Giants, Steelers, and Clan oops. I was surprised by talking to fans that have had season tickets since back in the days of the old rink tell me that after the Covid break away they didn't even miss it, they were bored at the game and have no plans to come back and hadn't renewed their season tickets anyway. I have run my own business since back in the early 80's and in all that time my mantra has been that it's a lot cheaper to keep existing fans than it is to keep finding new ones. Things are hopefully looking better now but I'm afraid that we have watched several winters loaded with dross I think the long Covid break will have had an effect. Unless you are out for a social event and the beer or cheering on one of your pet Brit bench warmers as far as sport goes it's an exciting night out and winning that puts bums on seats unless you are going to pack the teams with knuckly draggers. Let's just see what happens as it's all just about to unfold over the next few months.
