Had a very solid first season, put up good numbers and didn’t do a great deal wrong.
Anyone have any explanation why his ECHL numbers were poor this last season? Utah went through a few keepers but most of them put up decent numbers with Carr a glaring anomaly.... but he still had an AHL call up.

A completely random explanation could be that, he wasn't the regular starter so couldn't get any sort of consistent form, and the call up to Colorado would have also meant less ice time. Nothing a North American NM isn't used to but these things won't help his stats

Number 37 announced at 6.37pm.
My initial reaction was Meh, but then when you look at his stats he put up pretty good numbers. Dont ever remember him being a bad goalie, just that iirc he would have the odd stinker of a game. He is on his way back though so let's back him. If we get Carr consistantly at his best he is good enough. If Whistle stays and is as good as he was in the elite series then we have a decent set up. Perhaps more of an even split this time aroud. It'll just be an absoloute must to carry a spare import so that the games Whistle(If signed) starts we dont waste an import slot with Carr sat on the bench. That did happen to much last time out.

Carr seemed to get a lot of criticism last season, especially on the Facebook fan group, but I don’t recall him receiving much on here. If anything, I’d say Carr was solid for us, and his stats from 19/20 probably back that up so I’m pleased he’s back.
I do recall he was confident and capable of coming out to play the puck in front and behind his net. I assume Wallace wants this as part of our build up play, as it takes pressure of the defence if your playing teams that forecheck hard and like to be physical.
Hopefully we’ll find out the situation with Whistle soon.

Kerlin will be there to allow us to play a Brit back up when Whistle starts(hopefully). If we get qualified in the cup early then maybe Kerlin gets a start.

Hopefully we’ll find out the situation with Whistle soon. You know I'll have a graph to show that. Here's his cumulative save percentage by period for the season. Little wobble in October, to be fair (effectively 4 games (Cardiff, Storm, Fife and Dundee) where he conceded 14 from 74 shots) but after that consistently between 91 and 92%. The odd goal he'd want back, but over a season, tell me a goalie who doesn't do that? Stats don't lie. 91+% SP is a very capable goalie. Better than Bowns that season, and he's a bit useful. That said, I'm always mindful of the idea that your prior stats don't mean as much as your most recent stats. Attachments:

You can pull up all the stats you want .. Carr isn't going to stand on his head in a championship deciding game in the same way Bowns will

Not sure if this was posted at the time but he also had a scrap when he was Utah. Don’t think he’s signing as an enforcer!

Although I don't know where you get that idea from, that he absolutely wouldn't be able to? Any goalie at that level has the potential to do that at any time. Carr's save % in 4 games vs Giants was 97.66%, for example. They're the games that can win you league titles, the ones mid-season, when you beat your main contenders. Or are you talking about 1 game playoff finals?

But if you take the best data points out of an average, the answer will always be lower than it was initially, won't it? I guess if Panthers signed a netminder with those stats to be the #1 for his first look at the EIHL, you would indeed have every right to be "concerned". They alone are not stellar. The fact that it's Carr, and thus a recently known quantity, buys him a pass for me at this stage, but I, like you, have seen plenty of returning "fan favourites" not be as good second time around. Here's hoping our concerns are utterly unfounded, eh?

Staggering the amount of people on twitter really happy with the signing.. must be a nice pleasant chap.
The only plus point I see with Carr is he knows Tims methods and knows the area.

Can we leave off with the more personal stuff please. I don't like deleting posts but there's been a lot in this thread that had more to do with each other than the netminder. We should be able to discuss the pros and cons without it descending to that.

On the fence with this one.
Pro's - Knows the club, the management & the system so acclimatization will be minimal. Is a 'decent' enough keeper.
Con's - Is a 'decent' enough keeper... Could more be expected given the importance of the position?
Side note, I'd expect Whistle to sign soon as well to play the 1b role.

I think because a lot recognise he’s actually a very decent keeper. Granted, I get your opinion and I personally don’t agree with it. But he plays the puck well abs like you said knows the systems. We’ve been begging to build a core of players for years and we’re finally doing it. I don’t remember Carr making any glaring errors and certainily didn’t lose us many either.

I don't think he's a bad netminder I was just expecting a more stellar one to sign as it's a important position with the aim of winning championships
