You'd hope he could get another job in the ICEHL still, maybe DEL? Solid season in Innsbruck, captain etc. Obvs, the real hope is that he likes Nottingham better, but that's a hope too far, I fear.

Far far too good for this league but obviously hope he wants to come back and shell every goalie in the league again

I’m hoping and praying that we can bring him back. If we managed to do so then that would be a huge statement for next season

I'm taking the fact the two posts appeared together on my timeline as a sign. 😁 Somebody did mention Panthers made that post at 10.41 too. But then there is a history of trolling the fans. Not sure he should be back playing at this level, but of course i'd be thrilled if he was. Maybe it could come down to the simple fact he enjoyed his time here and wants to be happy.

I know Gary likes to play around with numbers (the attendance/MotM coincidences spring to mind), but it seems like straw clutching from fans. Now that I've said all this, of course there will probably be a Sam Herr announcement at 14:41 tomorrow...

All signings before Matherson were announced with the shirt number matching the minutes past the hour. That has been intentional. That post about upcoming signing wasn't an announcement of a signing itself so was very much clutching. I'm not sure the club were trolling on this occassion. The timing was just enough to give people hope.

If panthers plan on winning anything then signing a player of Herr's quality is a must it's they simple.. Domingue and Boivin are good starts but they'll only be seen as secondary scorers .
Ask yourself if Sheffield and Cardiff had Herr would he be back for a 2nd term?

Ask yourself if Sheffield and Cardiff had Herr would he be back for a 2nd term? Spot on. Every bit of it. Absoloutly pleased we signed Domingue and Boivin but if anyone is expecting or happy for those to be our top line then we would be in trouble. Sam Herr was absoloutly a stud at this level. One that is good enough to go and play at a better level. He is however being seen as something a little beyond perhaps what he actually is. He had a breakout season with us and before that wasn't pulling up trees. Can we honestly say he is way ahead of some of the longer term EIHL greats? Is he better than Joey Martin in his pomp? Or any of Steelers long term top liners, Matheui Roy for example. I dont think so. No question he is execptional , he was the best player in the league the year he was here for sure, but I dont think it's beyond reason to see him as an EIHL level franchise player such as Martin or Roy either.

Sam Herr was a blast for Panthers and a very good player indeed, and hopefully you guys will get him back and if he returns to the UK it should be to the panthers. Joey Martin to Panthers don’t think so, Sam Herr to Cardiff don’t think so.

Pay him what he’s worth or what he can get in Austria or equal and there’s no reason why Herr wouldn’t come back. Unless he’s going SHL,Liga,DEL1 or Swiss A then there should be no reason whatsoever why Panthers couldn’t offer the same money. And why would the big boys come calling anyway when he didn’t exactly rip it up in Austria last season.

His team in Austria have released him ! I realise that and I hope you’re right. He still scored 40 points from 48 games for Innsbruck which is pretty respectable. I would just think that clubs from bigger leagues and more money will be after him. As I say though I hope I’m wrong

Any lower though and there’s no reason the Panthers couldn’t compete in the pay stakes. They could pay a DEL salary easily to the right player if they wanted to blow their normal wage structure apart, but they’ll never do it.

I’d hope he could get a shot at the DEL. Good luck to him. As a second or third liner maybe,so salary wise not that out of reach bearing in mind the DEL apparently pays up to around £130k a season for top earners. So that’s about £4K a week for a top line guy, therefore a second or third liner on say £100k would be £3k ish a week. Bearing in mind the likes of Mcgratten and Jansen were supposedly getting £2k a week it’s not unreasonable to assume Panthers could compete financially for Herr if they really wanted to. What’s an extra £1k a week to get a guy like him in the grand scheme of things ? It’s peanuts....100 ish extra tickets per home game that’s all, they’d easily make that back if Panthers were up there in the league title race.
