Just home from work and very pleased to see we have gained a point by taking the Danish so far. Brilliant work. This is going well. High hopes for tomorrow. Well at least have greater trust in the side trying their hardest to overturn the Belarusians. Good luck guys, whilst I am at work again. tut.

Gotta love the effort these guys put in. They play as a real team. Maybe the Iihf reporters might give them a bit of respect instead of the rather patronising comments so far. All credit to the GB team.

Great win for GB. I thought in the 1st and 2nd period we looked the better team, hungrier and faster, and thankfully the score line reflected that at the end of the 2nd. Belarus found another gear in the 3rd period but that was to be expected, we put a bit of pressure on ourselves with a poor giveaway from Ehrhardt, but, we held on and defended immensely.
Also, Bownsy is a different animal for GB, the high shot count seems to suit him and certainly brings out the best in him.
The boys should be proud of themselves as there’s a lot of fans who are proud of them, it was great to see the lads singing the anthem at the end as well. Another shining moment for British ice hockey!

What the...! Got home to see the game from 4-2 up. Then they scored as they were all over us like....well you know. My heart was pounding as the seconds ticked away. Blow me they did it. respect. But/if on the last two games, pity we didn't take another point but all told great promise.
Going to watch the whole thing again.

Fantastic result, really great performance which resulted in our 1st regulation win.
Certainly makes you think how many of our players will not be playing in The EIHL next season now.
Hopefully our performances and results will lead to our World Ranking being higher which hopefully opens up a few more doors (I believe that this could help us get another team in The CHL automatically, I may be wrong though)
Against Sweden and Switzerland, I know we aren't getting anything from those games just how long it'll take them to put it out of reach but I do hope that it'll be difficult for them.
What's The Czech team like, are they full of all stars are are they like Canada where they are giving the younger players a chance, if it's the latter, do stand a chance of actually getting something from it.
I love the opposition Coach's reactions on when we equalise or take the lead, it looks like they are embarrassed.
I do feel for Jackson Whistle,he was sacrificed to The Russians.

He’d be even better if he didn’t have Erhardt in front of him, he’s a bloody liability and cost GB two goals.

Personally I will be on Hronek, Zadina and Vrana watch 😃😉. Their roster is pretty decent . They have selected some experienced players .
Sweden's roster is mainly SHL based .. I was surprised they didn't invite Lucas Raymond though . If they sneak into the semis you may see some of the more experienced players joining up maybe Petterson

www.panthers.co.uk/home/210526-gbPanthers website report of the game. They manage to slip in the obligatory plug for a shirt raffle, but fail to mention Hammond's goal in the actual report, although it is mentioned in the introduction.

Think we’ll file that as 7/10, nice idea, but need more attention to detail.

Won't they have quarantine issues, same as anyone coming from NHL Nope . Elite sportsman won't need to The IIHF website report on Canada's win yesterday refers to Andrew Mangipane, finishing the NHL season with Calgary, flying over to Riga and spending six days in statutory quarantine before being allowed to play.

Unless the Latvian government insist on everyone having to quarantine..the same reason why the UCL final wasn't moved to Wembley.
Although there's talk of Russia bringing in additional players for the playoffs...

Won't they have quarantine issues, same as anyone coming from NHL Nope . Elite sportsman won't need to They'll have to quarantine for six days and have negative tests before they're allowed to play. Which is why so many of the teams have now set their final rosters on the past 48hrs. Because they won't have time to make it worth trying to bring in NHL players who haven't finished playing or weren't able to "make the plane" in time for them to be with being registered on the squad. So players from other leagues that can be there quickly are slowly taking the final few roster spots. It's why Kahun but not his teammate Draisaitl was added to Germany's roster this week. www.iihf.com/en/events/2021/wm/news/25829/kahun_joins_germany

Yeah Draisaitl was still involved with the oilers last week. Would make sense . So was fellow Oiler Kahun but, unlike Draisaitl, he had no other commitments that prevented him "making the plane" at short notice

The administration of our game might be clown-shoes bad, and the resources for the national team to work with being next to absolutely scant, but it just makes the vast strides made by the coaches and players all the more miraculous that's dazzling to watch. By all accounts we shouldn't even have reached this level full stop, but instead it's going to be at least 3 years on the trot in it. It's a modern day miracle on ice level of stuff, which makes it all the sadder that outside a pretty niche bubble, it won't get anywhere near the attention or plaudits it otherwise would have if it were another sport.
If we predicted the games on paper, we'd have 0 points still. We're a leading example of why we actually play the games, as no matter the odds, they can be beaten. It's a wonderful story that I hope one day gets made into one of those Netflix docu series, it's been that amazing a run.

There's more there to work with. I'm not saying Bowns is crap, he's a decent keeper. Just not as good as many believe.

Play whistle as your No1 for a season you ain't winning or even competing for a championship pal.. the recruitment has started off well then you'll undo it by signing JS .. he's a decent back up but I wouldn't want him to be relied upon over 50 odd games
