Latvia turn over Canada on day 1, 2-0 win. Britain with a simple start tomorrow with the Ruskies. The Russians played on Friday so they will be tired.(anyone have any more straws, for clutching purposes). When did Richardson join the squad, I don't remember seeing him on the original list. To be fair, a lot of the Latvians play in the same league and are experienced internationals. The Canadians played like a team who have just met at practice for the first time.

This Canadian roster is pretty garbage for their standards. Think the likes of Russia and Sweden will be favs this year and the German roster is pretty decent. I'll be following Moritz Seider very close. Recently voted the youngest ever d man of the year in the SHL 😃

Yes, Richardson a late runner there. Incidentally, with this years event and a 28 man chosen squad (more then usual) in this Covid ridden world, I can only assume (with the lower pools not playing) there will be no 'points' to allocate for what would have been a re-vamped nations ranking list post WC?

That's the shut out rid of....1-4 end of first period. The obvious with their speed and us being in the box, but two more 1-4's and we'll take that.

Eof 4-1. GB skating hard but the gulf in class shows. Nice pp goal for Kirk. We need to keep out of the box.

Interesting they're playing Whistle. Already 3 down ☹️ I did say if they started whistle against the Russians it will be painful to watch. I'd expect Bowns to enter things soon

Not so sure. For fudges sake . need a new ref (holding stick?) and a goal judge. Tough against us too. Did recall we said we'd have to keep out of the penalty box...

Feel we could be doing better than we are. Poor passing in the last PP and some slow choice/play. similar with lacho's chance just now. Chances but perhaps if we can hold on to this and maybe get a goal, it will be a success.
- Another dumb penalty...BY the ref.

7-1 final. Plenty of positives,,plenty to work on. No-one singing along to the Russian anthem because it doesn't have any words, and it's not the Russian anthem !

In fact what's with the logo and anthem? Something said about the past and 'drugs' - was I hearing right? Liam the first British born and trained player into the NHL draft? I've Johnathan Phillips on his 99th GB game. But will get to that later. (probably 98th)

Scoreline not really shocking but they did play quite well considering they were playing a team full of players who had full KHL and NHL Seasons whereas GB only had a 4 team warm up League.
Think we had our major piece of luck by not having relegation but if they play like today and cut out the penalties, you never know.
Is Belarus our best bet out of getting something

Denmark do hold a good position in the top flight now. Plus they have beaten Sweden which doesn’t help. As long as we beat Belarus and they lose to others it’s possible we survive being bottom or perhaps get Italy or someone if there is an end game like last time we played for relegation though this time just for placing. Not read the format from the IIHF. Considering the Russians shouldn’t be playing per yotes explanation to me, and they are, i’ll take a 5-0 win today forfeit. That may help.

I'd expect Bowns to enter things soon You did, but I think that GB were always going to struggle to get anything out of that game. Far too much class in red. Whistle is the "hot" goalie on current form, but Bowns will, if fit, surely play more than the odd game. I didn't see much, but did see some nice play from GB, but one play illustrated the difference for me. Lacho had a pretty open net to shoot at following a broken play and some nice passing, but tried to corral the puck, then shoot, instead of one timing it. In that blink of an eye, the shot was blocked.

V Slovakia 0-1 after the first. Brilliant, much better bar the 25 seconds in goal. Awaiting decision on that last fracas on the whistle though we also were floored cross-checked behind earlier too.

1-2 and going well after two, Bowns making friends with the officials ' give this netminder a contract' . Need to stay in the game, anything can happen as Slovakia step up.

Tied for 59mins and 35seconds. Thats some effort. Clearly when you consider shots GB could have been blown away, but equally 1 lucky bounce, 1 bit of composure and GB could've got something out of that game.
Bowns back to his best. Kirk really showing up, and thats all over the ice, not just in the offensive zone. It would be a travesty if he's seen in the EIHL in the next 4/5 seasons.
