Hi, Bar writing up some facts, bullet points and lists in a new book by me on our history. I’m searching out some detail for some competitions. In particular a guy over the pond is helping me as regards our competition history from his internet/WiKi pages. Anyone out there as nuts as me that knows/ recalls detail who can help? Good to have contacts on board. On this occasion it’s on the Icy Smith Cup of 1973-74 and results of earlier rounds down to the final between Streatham and Whitley which the coastal town won on aggregate.
Thanks

Regards the same book that I have written. "UK Ice Hockey History" I'm searching out for any players who have pictures of themselves like this one. Or a close action shot without other players around or can be cut out. It's a thought of putting a basic skater shot on the back of the book. Any takers? ALSO wanted , anyone who would like to be involved in my next project, that being a book whereas I need people who can draw, like this. Anyone know who drew this?....found I think on facebook or Twitter.

Next call out is to ask if anyone has pictures that might be good for inclusion. I'm looking for any pictures from the early 80's (does not have to be local or top flight. Anything representing Cup/League trophies One from the 50's era Or picture celebrating All-Star teams.

This is an 80gram Amazon published (printed) version. My first venture with them. The book being as near A4 as possible for trim so as to see the stats/tables better.
Example text
The first Clubs documented.
In this first early period some teams fell by the wayside and others came as new representative sides playing with those regulars.
Major teams bar Niagara were Princes club , Oxford and Cambridge University’s as well as the Oxford Canadians and London Lions, all who travelled regularly abroad to play.
The Amateur Skating club and Argyll plus the London Canadians joined in with the newer teams Glasgow and Manchester who pitted against the initial squads. Even a Canadian Rugby team at one time as well as Lancashire, Yorkshire Skating club, Royal Engineers and Leeds University joined those in print for posterity.
Then as War broke out and fractured life over the world the game was not allowed to flourish yet brought about teams like ‘the united services’ a war representation in this period of history.
Scottish teams a plenty in Glasgow skated in league competition before Queens Hammersmith, Sussex and Grosvenor House were later English clubs being bold to organise squads.
Post war from the early 1920’s Ice Hockey was to again make ground, making it big in the 30’s and beyond. The sport was to embrace national and international achievement from these roots.
Other than teams being declared a champion from the best results in a season, a Club championship game may have been played or an aggregate set of games between two sides or later an actual club tournament.
A winner might have been the previous year’s winner as they were unchallenged. Though on some of these seasons unchallenged these title holders may have still lost to other teams in seasonal friendlies. It may be that many games were not recorded for us to realise why a club was chosen as the champion, 1905, 1909 and 1912 to 1914 an example of this. If you read the seasons results you will see what I mean.
From these early noted ‘champions’ came English and Scottish league play that incorporated Cup competitions and the seasonal play-offs later on.
Each competition to follow is explained in this book and then a list of winners is shown, broken up individually into the three main categories of competition which are; Cup, League and Play-Offs, page 44 onwards.

The book is a well researched and presented summary of the history of senior club Ice hockey in the UK. Although it mainly features purely factual and statistical records, there is the occasional personal photo or comment from the Author which helps lighten the tone. for those moments when you might ask 'can you remember this player' or 'who did what in that season' it's an ideal book to have at hand.

Thank you from me for your continued support with this book. Sales tinkling along and hopefully if you are to buy one it will be a good resource on your bookshelf. Always satisfying when people are sharing your work. All the hard work worth it when you see that another has been sold.

Well, a rush of purchases pre Christmas is pleasing which allows me one last reminder for you of that present you ought to get in quick. Even a new year book as an excuse for not making it in time for 25th December and starting that year ( the last in this season) off well.
Hoping we’ll have something to document into the records for posterity for season 21/22.

NOT THE BOOK this time, but didn't want to open a new thread.
I am proposed to be on a pod cast at Radio Nottingham. Sorry, my tones to the ear is not a good listen. But they want a few details about hockey in Nottingham and I assume details on the past history of the sport here in the city. So a few bits from the book I guess won't hurt as well.
Just letting you know as it's a bit of exposure to the sport and soon as I know when it airs (with or without me) I will let you know.

Dropped in today to see producer Lucie Lewis and have a chat. Too much to say in such short time and much missed. Should be out in November and mentioned my book writing about three times. Think that was enough? Lol 😂

Dropped in today to see producer Lucie Lewis and have a chat. Too much to say in such short time and much missed. Should be out in November and mentioned my book writing about three times. Think that was enough? Lol 😂 This actual production of 'We are Notts' by Lucie Lewis was put back due to the news of AJ and has been uploaded to 'BBC Sounds on 7th of January 2024. The actual link being www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0h0jwhhSome chat with folk who go skating, coach's and players. At 40mins I am in BUT the editing makes it seem that I am going off topic. One of the players gets a good slot then Strachan's words about the recent upset in October with AJ. Finishes with fans talking about AJ etc...and they did add part of my 'filmed' interview when I got upset a tad, like most did. Available to listen to until the end of the month approximately.
