Compete car crash of a format. The NHL/Bettman manage to once again go down the complicated route instead of the more straight forward one. How can teams who have a shot at the cup through the premier stages of the playoffs still get a chance of landing the #1 pick (Lafraniere) what's the betting teams deliberately tank in order to have a shot at the lottery!

Better than nothing IMO, gets the game back on TV at least. I think they've done their best to come up with something manageable and practical. Unlike us they don't need bums on seats so badly.
Can't see tanking being a problem, it's a straight 5-game series knockout for the teams in the qualifying round isn't it? Where is there to tank?

I believe Pidge is a Red Wings fan, they worked hard for that wooden spoon this season, I'd be annoyed to lose a good draft spot at this stage too. 😉 Happy with the playoff format to be honest. Keep it simple. Lottery system seems unbalanced, but then it does have the word lottery in it so by definition it is what it is.

Theres nothing logical about that believe me. Imagine a situation where the Oilers Could draft yet again another #1 pick while having a chance of a cup run and wreck their career hey!
Not too difficult for a team to throw a 5 game series. I'm hoping for total chaos here to highlight what a poor idea this has been 🤣
When the wings were winning cups and going deep into the playoffs for 25 years straight we very rarely got a top 20 pick hense why we had to find gems in the 3rd/4th rounds etc.
Now the tables have turned we still get shafted for being poor.. the Oilers, Blackhawks and Pens etc have all been rewarded for being awful with No1 picks and now they use thos system it stinks!
Using these two hubs for the playoffs with a maximum of 50 in attendance.. dont get too excited it wont be a great spectacle to watch on tv just like the Bundesliga right now and the soon to be premier league.. the eihl as well... let's not go there

We've all been screwed over by the draft lottery. I'm sure we all hope it doesn't happen to Detroit too...
I think Ottawa's SJ pick is more likely to stuff you than one of the play-in round teams.

Not every team. The Sens have a 23.5% chance of landing the #1 pick. Tbh they traded Karlsson so deserve someone half decent .

NHL looking likely to be approved to restart August 1st out of Toronto and Edmonton.
Won't be the same but good standard hockey to watch is better than no Hockey. Looking at the details of the plan, it is so much more comprehensive than the other major sports in NA. The proposed restart in other sports over here is a poo poo show, which reflects the current state of COVID in the US. NHL making a smart decision to move the league to Canada where the situation is under way more control.
The bonus for me personally is that my balcony here in TO overlooks the proposed bubble location so in an awesome position to chirp a few players as they go about their daily business.
Posters will be bought and put on display. "Marchand, we can see your nose from here" is an early draft, any other suggestions?

Oil already 4-1 down, I think they might be throwing the series to get another #1 pick...

Leafs come back from 3-0 down with 4 minutes left to stay alive in the series.
They have been trash and won't go late in this tournament but that was a finish to remember.

OT5 win for Tampa Bay last night. Fourth longest game in NHL history.
Been a really entertaining tournament so far. NHL has done a great job of making this work and still zero positive cases since the teams arrived in Canada.

A fabulously enjoyable tournament, with the best team winning it.
Congratulations to the NHL for making it a success. Over 33,000 tests carried out for the ‘virus’ and not one positive one. Now I can go back to sleeping during the night!

Now I can go back to sleeping during the night! It has been ran so well and it was a much better spectacle than I expected it to be. That being said, I think I've watched more playoff Hockey than I would have in normal circumstances so I'm very much happy for the break. All eyes to see what the plan is for next season. Talk of an all Canadian division to try and navigate the US border situation, if they don't go down that route then it'll be likely the Canadian teams will have to base themselves in the US. Canadian government won't allow teams to fly in and out for regular season games, hence way Toronto FC and the Blue Jays have had to set up camp in the US.
