Other European countries are way ahead of the UK on the recovery path. They'll be ice hockey in many places before the UK. Jord are you forgetting the eihl is at the centre and forefront of all things hockey worldwide? Clearly I am, yes. Why anyone would have any faith in the EIHL organising anything correctly is a complete mystery to me. I guess some hold a very lofted opinion of where they sit in the actual pecking order.

This virus is worldwide so no contracts are worth much, that’s the way it is. Other European countries are way ahead of the UK on the recovery path. They'll be ice hockey in many places before the UK. Sure will but not enough jobs for everyone

Sure will but not enough jobs for everyone You said no contracts are worth much. I and others are pointing out that contracts where hockey will almost certainly be played sooner are worth way more than EIHL ones. Any contracts signed now will contain release clauses for both the club & the player if we have no go ahead from a certain date. That's a given.

I know how it'd work if I were a player. Really simple. One of 2 things.
Either. I'll sign, if no sign of a season starting September time then I will look for another club.
Or
I'll sign and come when the season starts but I want to be paid wages from Aug/Sept or I cant afford to sign. Guarentee me pay to at least November. If still no sign of season starting i'm going else where.
Why, import especially would you sign without soemthing like that in place. These guys arnt on big money. They need to earn a living. Not a chance anybody is signing with no security of income or easy get out.

These guys rely on a decent earning..like I said if the season starts in December, they have potentially lost a good 1500 quid earnings of the 3 months they have lost . Have these clubs got the cash to prop that up for 14 imports ? Most other leagues can afford to start up September hense why Matheseon and Connely have gone and I dont blame them one bit . They have families to think of

If the season goes ahead you get paid, if it don’t then you don’t. What’s difficult about that. Why am i thinking we will be hearing a few hockey players whining about “unfulfilled promises” if the EIHL 20/21 season gets cancelled ! 🙈😆

Where would they go though? Yes some players will move on but there will have to be to a league of their quality and what if they’ve already started playing, they’ll likely have a full squad and unwilling to sign spares given the current climate. Some leagues have import limits as well which reduces their opportunities, I think the vast majority of players who sign in the EIHL will have very little choice but to wait

So do you guys think you have signed anyone, and who would you want back. Panthers have officially signed no one, no talks are taking place until there is a better picture on the season going ahead. Unofficially however....

So do you guys think you have signed anyone, and who would you want back. Danny Fick is supposed to be returning to complete the 2nd year of his MBA, however that is a complicated matter.

If their client needs/wants a job they get shopped around for one. Why didn't Connelly and Matheson just wait then on that theory ? They need to make a living

If you can’t afford to wait then you’ll have to sign for a team that looking likely to start before the EIHL

Highly likely most won’t if the EIHL is still in limbo in August but other offers from elsewhere are dangled in front of them, they’ll be off into the blue yonder faster than a rat up a drainpipe !

I look at it this way. Neither of Neil Black's teams have released season ticket information, never mind started taking money for them. That tells me that a season is unlikely at this stage.

Exactly this. If other European countries are playing before we are & there are no clear signs of any progress from the EIHL then heads will inevitably be turned. All contracts being signed now will have multiple escape clauses for both the player & the club. We're talking players livelihoods here. A certain majority have families to support.

This poses an interesting question. Some teams are recruiting, others appear not to be. The mix between the established 'top' teams is 50/50. Could certain teams abscond to avoid a reduced season & let the others have their fun?

Good theory.. be funny if Panthers were a team who to abscond and watch the bitching and moaning from other quarters .. that could be fun to watch 😂😀
