See I don’t think we are in the top 2 spending wise, I think we are in the top1 in other things that is also a big attraction to players, Uni places, security, good wages, nice city, history of winning, players being looked after, nice accomodation and enjoying going to work, honesty you get what you were promised, loyalty and a coach that’s a joy to work with. All these things are huge to players who want to feel safe and secure, and not be herded from pillar to post. Yes money is a huge factor, but sometimes feeling happy and content is also pretty neat.

Doesn't really matter what you think Glynne. As I've told you before & many others here I know for sure you are.

Mac Howlett leaving Glasgow to move 'closer to home'. He's from Woking so you would expect that to mean Guilford. clanihc.com/post/news-howlett-departs-the-clan/Do Panthers stand any chance of signing young Brits, like Clarkie, Meyers, Lee, Myers ? I feel that these were exceptionally talented players, whereas the upcoming Brits needs to be signed earlier and developed. Which means taking a chance.

We’ve got some talented lads in Tetlow, Kelsall and Hazeldine, they need to be given the ice time and trusted, then they’ll develop into great players.

Usual level of communication from the club... They rarely talk about players leaving, unless they've either left under a cloud or on bad terms, or they drop hints about 'not closing the door for the future'. Joins ex Steeler and MK forward Eric Neiley, who he played with at Sheffield

On the surface it also looks like a bit of an odd step for one of the EIHL's best dmen - Hungry / Romania isn't the best league (Josh Shalla was the leagues top scorer and the Rupert twins ended up there...)
Wonder if we'll see more players jumping to leagues where theres more certainty of the season actually taking place

Although there’s been no updates from the league there’s quite a few signings been announced especially Cardiff which makes you wonder if the teams have a heads up. sad that even the assistant coach tag couldn’t keep Matheson here, makes you wonder what the Romanian league offers that we can’t. Will be interesting to see who Gui & Tim manage to tempt back.

Very odd move by Matheson that, especially at his age and being assistant coach in Nottingham too. Smacks of something going on behind either the Panthers or EIHL scenes that’s being kept quiet.

How many players return annually to the Panthers guys over the last few seasons. Imports that is,is your turnover Big or generally x amount per season. Who has been there the longest import wise. Stay safe.

Stay safe. Well that tells a story in itself. There are only two imports from last season who’ve been here more than one season. Both on Uni deals and one of those was Jon Rheault who had he not been on a Uni deal would have undoubtedly got the bullet after year one because he was crap ! The other one is Lepine.

Perm anything from anything. 1) Not hearing anything - 'well there won't be a season next time round'. 2) Players signing up again. - 'must be something happening that we don't know about' 3) Players are leaving abroad - ' must be taking this option as a safe one where hockey more likely played'. 4) Club not saying anything. ' options/care taken as there may/may not be a season'. 5) players not re-signing - playing safe and getting a job elsewhere at home. and many more. It will be very interesting to see how this all pans out. As time goes on with assumed news that takes it one way or the other.

That was my thoughts when I made my earlier post - I'm guessing the players have been made aware that the season will be only going ahead if certain restrictions are lifted by the government by a certain time. So for some of them its not worth the risk waiting, even when the offer they have is from a lower league. As far as I know, Hungary is one of the countries that has had lockdown fully lifted for a month or so now so is probably more likely to be going ahead with their season. Wonder when the deadline is for the EIHL to pull the plug because they can't facilitate a financially viable season?

Even if some fans are allowed in at some point it will be a number well under viability levels. He possibly only had one season left in him so he’s gone somewhere where he’s guaranteed to play and guaranteed a wage. Any players that are being signed here so far are bound to have a contract that has a club get out if the season doesn’t happen. Well into June and they can’t even get kids back to school and people still dying every day. There isn’t going to be a world changing turnaround between now and Christmas so anyone thinking they are going to be in a crowd at the NIC watching hockey anytime soon is deluded.

Neil Black has already confirmed we have players who have agreed to come back but we aren’t announcing them because we haven’t got a firm date for when next season starts so they could very well move somewhere else
