Just noticed a new name attached to the Panthers Elite Prospects page, that I didn't recognise.
They have Martin Kirschbaum listed as an "Analytics Consultant".
Don't suppose its massively important or interesting to people, I may have just missed the announcement, but its something new I learned today atleast.

Don't remember seeing an announcement, but he has been listed on the website since the first game of the season. I guess it's the same as the other non-ice team, who are never announced. In fact, I don't recall Strachen being announced this season.

Sounds like what I do for fun... Dear Tim, Shhh. If Gary finds out you do it for free, he'll sack the poor bloke and try to get you in for nothing!

If this guy does proper stat analyst im happy. Big believer in stats, and think you go an awful long way to building great teams just with that.
You still need all the other bits but its a good way of dodging players that were never going to work out.

We can all usually see what’s lacking in the team by August !

Had a thought about whether the EIHL had advanced it's technology (I know, stupid thought), especially as the league now show + and - stats, so has the league introduced player tracking on-ice? I did some "googling" and found an article about NHL bringing in full player analysis. The article then went on to say that Nottingham has taken the first steps this year. "Their home, the National Ice Centre, recently became the first stadium in the UK to install the Pixellot system, one of the most advanced of its kind in the world. The system uses multiple cameras covering the whole rink, which follow the flow of the game and shoot high definition footage." " It could also benefit the coaches, who could use the footage to closely review the game and player’s performances. This technology could be rolled out in other UK ice hockey stadiums in the future." Full article - www.britishicehockey.co.uk/post/is-advanced-technology-coming-to-british-ice-hockey/This could explain why Panthers have employed said analyst

It’s also what we use to stream Lions games. live.

Was going to say just the Olympic rink because the footage from the main rink is awful. far too high to even see the puck in some instances it definitely isn't tv footage worthy.

Yup it's a awful position for a camera! It looks poo poo when on the TV too.. you'd think after 20 years they would have come up with something alot better. Mind you that arena has alot of faults.. main thing is size and the concourse are far too narrow to accommodate 6,500-7,000. I guess that's what you get cramming a arena into restricted space.
Should have been built on wasteland on the edge of town etc.. but that's a discussion for another day

And I suspect the Bunkers and the Legend (and the Hockley chippy) may disagree...

I live for the day Panthers have their own building out of town similar to what the devils have (perhaps on a larger scale) then they can hang banners and have their own rules not under the ownership of someone else

Sheffield is a large out of town arena, would you like to play in a modernised version of that? I wouldn't.

It's either that or play in a cramped arena like this. The concourse needs to be twice as wide.. having a inner concourse is beneficial too. When I first went on the tour of the arena the day it was officially open i thought the design looked poo poo when it was full. In the early years when there was only 3,500/4,000 fans except the sheffield games it was never a problem

No hockey venue I've ever been to has you closer to the action from 15 rows back. The Shed of Tin being the obvious comparator. Nice, airy arena, big concourse, but a shallow seating rake and you seem miles away compared to the NIC.

Isn't Viola operated by Planet Ice whereas the team is owned by others. So they have to play by Planet Ice's rules, although possibly there is a closer working relationship. I can't see Aladdin (or any potential Panthers team owners) buying a rink as Hockey won't make a profit, and they won't want the additional expense of trying to attract additional revenue.
