NHL press conference tomorrow too, looking likely to be suspended. UK set to change its status too. I think the EIHL need to look at contingencies quickly to ensure there is even a next season if POFW doesn't happen which is looking extremely likely! The implications for the league and clubs is going to be huge. Purely speculation but some clubs struggle in this scenario to survive in my opinion. On a more important note, I have a family member with respiratory problems and this is a very concerning time. I hope everybody treats what is to come over the coming days/weeks/months with the seriousness it deserves. Indeed. Our more flush owners will need to shift their economic outlook almost overnight to a long-term model of recovery for the league, rather than bailing at the first suggestion of losses or assisting the worse-off teams. Here’s hoping. I fear that by the time Easter weekend arrives, some of us will have forgotten that the Playoffs were even supposed to be on. This will rapidly become a time to stay with your families and trust our community will endure, and still exist on the other side of it.

Smug mode. It's going to be off, little doubt now.
As said above by others, stay safe, look after your loved ones.

I thought it was just flu? ☹️ Yes but remember a sizeable proportion of Panthersnation fans aren’t exactly young whippersnappers.

NBA season is now cancelled. Suspended, isn't it? I think all sports can expect that in the near future. La Liga now also suspended. Real Madrid in quarantine. Seems extremely unlikely to me that the POFW won't get cancelled at this point.

Gatherings in Scotland above 500 people banned next week.
That's pretty much the EIHL regular season finished as a result.
If the Caps were still around then they would have been fine to continue 😂

If the remainder of the season gets cancelled what happens about those with season tickets? That goes for all teams. The club promises entry to a certain amount of games and if they fall short by say 5 games because of they can't play or whatever then what?

I've seen talk about the seasoning ending being and incidence of "force majeure". Basically something out of their control. Need to check our season tickets to see whether such a clause applies in our terms and conditions.

Sorry, typing from my phone. I was trying to say if the play offs cancelled it will have a big impact but if the Scottish teams already limited to 500 fans I think it drops them into problems anyway.

I think it's problems up and down the league. As well as teams losing a pretty penny, the league itself will lose a lot of revenue. It's a tidal wave of problems that could hit the league hard.

No mention of anything about not fulfilling the 28 games it is stated for.

IF the play offs are cancelled due to the virus and IF the EIHL are not covered by insurance then I wont be looking to get my money back anyway. I am more worried about the league dropping in quality of players / number of teams / officials than trying to get my money back and the same goes for season tickets etc. If the quality drops or the number of teams are forced to drop I wont be back anyway.

Listening to Sturgeon speak as I type this, she’s just come out of the Cobra meeting, she has just said that the Scottish Government will be ADVISING that events over 500 be cancelled where there is a big strain on front line forces i.e. ambulance service, police force.
Could Scottish Ice Hockey still continue then?

Could Scottish Ice Hockey still continue then? This will take effect from Monday so some of the Scottish clubs have 1-2 games left after that, so it’s not to bad. Fife and Dundee could probably open to season ticket holders which probably are in the 500 range. Think it’s a bit silly to pull this trigger so far when only 65 people in Scotland are infected.

Could Scottish Ice Hockey still continue then? If this happened with the sport going against government (albeit the Scottish government) advice it would bring so much scrutiny and bad PR for the league that sheer pressure alone would get them to change the decision. I really feel efforts now need to be put in to protecting clubs and the league's long term interest. I pray the league has insurance. It's a crazy day!

From what I've just gathered from Sky Sports News, it's not about spreading the virus, it's about the strain on emergency services.
1 thing about this sport I love is, we don't have crowd trouble.
So unless I'm mistaken (Definitely likely) maybe just maybe, we can get away with it

Bettman has put it (league suspension) to the NHL board of Governors ...No objections at present.
