Issues with how the club treated him. Questioning why players don’t return. Wonder if we’ll get any input from the constants at the club, Moran and Black. Nothing has changed, and won’t until these two muppets go. Out of the Challenge Cup after an embarrassing collapse, as good as out of League contention. Same old, same old.

Your certainly not out of league contention, or the play offs, still lots for the Panthers to play for.

While it’s likely that there’s some truth in what DeSantis has said considering GM still has a job, you do have to question if his situation here was as bad as he suggests then why did it take till early February to get a new job? I have a feeling he’s blowing this out of proportion in order to save his own backside

Will see if I can find anything out over this. Seems weird. What’s the betting it’s another of those situations about what was promised to a player not materialising. Wouldn’t be the first time.

If he wasn’t treated badly, why would a 34 year old who’s already been round Europe up sticks and leave with only a few weeks of the season left ? Especially to a league no better than the EIHL.

It's interesting that a player makes a few vague comments about Bad Things (TM) and some choose to automatically believe him... or is it to automatically believe the worst about the club and/or certain people within it?
I don't think that we have anywhere near enough information to make any kind of proper judgement. Sure as hell, the club (and/or certain people within it) haven't exactly covered themselves in glory on multiple occasions... but on the flip side, someone who appears to slag off and dismiss anyone who hasn't played the sport - and who doesn't actually make any concrete claims whatsoever, preferring innuendo instead - doesn't exactly inspire confidence in their veracity.

Exactly. The Panthers don’t always cover themselves in glory but I tend to think DeSantis isn’t to be totally believed here. It all seems very prima donna ish. He says he was left in a mess but does elaborate one word as to how

Worth remembering that they could both be in the wrong, and we’ll likely not get a clear picture of it if there’s only one guilty party anyway.
If it’s the club’s fault though, you can expect it to be reflected in summer if it’s that bad. DeSantis made the ever-changing roster point and while it’s a soft target, it is a Panthers trademark (leaving aside other teams’ clearout years).
There’s also channels for him to express it if he’s that aggrieved. I’m sure Brock Wilson would happily air the whole thing out.

Looking at his career to date, he has, with the exception of a 2 season spell with Klagenfurt, changed teams every year. Presumably he had problems with other club's management as well? Well, that's also an interesting point.

Hockey teams are ever changing, all the time, both over years and within years, it's a fact of hockey life. Players come and go. That's not even close to being a reason to be uncheerful. Very very few teams have little churn.

Finally announced on Esbjerg Energy site, although I'm quite surprised they have added this to the announcement.
"Jason DeSantis has played 30 games in the EIHL this season with 11 points to follow, leaving the Nottingham Panthers under a very big fuss with allegations from both club and player about the circumstances of the change.
- Now the usual process of getting the paperwork in order is getting under way. We take it day by day and then we have to see when we have him available. He should at least very much want to become a fully integrated part of the team before the playoffs begin, ”Mark Pederson told JydskeVestkysten." (Through Google translator)

I think we can safely say De Santis had a point about players not returning. Must be just unlucky compared to other teams.

In an interview with Chris Ellis, Doucet said he believes lack of ice time and lack of PP and PK time was a factor in DeSantis wanting to leave. I think Doucet could be right as he said he was happy to have signed DeSantis as he believes he will be a big part of this roster. I personally wouldn’t describe DeSantis as a big part of this roster as he’s been 3rd D pairing for most of the year, no PP time and 2 PK unit. I can understand DeSantis’ frustration if he’s been promised that and him being offered that may be down to a bit of inexperience on Doucet and Wallace’s part but DeSantis is experienced enough to know that if you aren’t performing then you ain’t gonna get extra minutes and for me he didn’t deserve any PP time or to move up the D pairings

Anyway, he's gone now. Hopefully the remaining D can stay healthy, or there's a deadline beater on the cards (when is that btw, normally this time of year)?

Off ice issues more the reason. Feels he didn't get enough support from Panthers regarding housing/transport/costs... etc.

However when the 15th falls on a weekend luke this year the deadline is extended to 23.59 on the following monday (17th in this case). At least according to this anyhow Attachments:
