Thought we looked electric offensively, we had a marvellous shift in the second period where we kept them hemmed in their zone for close to 2 minutes. Defensively, I thought Bowns was shaky but for two of the goals he was screened by our own Dmen, pick up a player or get out of the way!
It’s a win, but we’re not going to have as much time in offensive zone against Estonia and certainly not Hungary, so we’ll have to take our chances and tighten up a bit.
Farmer was immense and Ollie looked terrific on the penalty kill.

good to see the cousins Perlini and Conway playing together. Would Scott qualify as a Brit if he wants to play in the UK ?

good to see the cousins Perlini and Conway playing together. Would Scott qualify as a Brit if he wants to play in the UK ? Yes, apparently he was trained as a junior in Basingstoke. It would be good if we could tempt him here, but it’s probably too early in his career for that, bearing in mind he’s been playing in the AHL this season. Money talks I suppose.

his EP listing says he played 3 games for the Cougars in 2007-08. Is that enough for us to claim him as ours ? You would think that as long as his cousin is still here then a bit of ear bending might work.

Anyone got a programme they're willing to sell from these games? I've got to the arena and they have already sold out, gb haven't even played their second game yet🙄

3-0 up half way through.
Hungary beat Romania in overtime earlier, so a regulation win will see us go top of the group.

3-0 up half way through. Hungary beat Romania in overtime earlier, so a regulation win will see us go top of the group. An OT win vs Hungary will see us through... first tie-break in IIHF is head-to-head games.

Is it not already decided which group we go to then, I was under the impression the winner of our Group went into Slovakia's Group.

Oh dear, after a 1-4 loss and another walk/tram/drive home. Upset that the team did not play as well tonight. It would have been nice to have at least make the next and final qualifier round.
My 2nd game at the Arena and second loss. So we have to beat Canada to improve my attendance score. Yikes.
Had a moan to the supervising staff asking why the Hungarians can sing and dance on the stairs yet repeatedly home fans would be told to sit. Got the expected excuses.

It's safer to allow them to stand on the steps and do their business than to send a steward up every 30 seconds asking them to move. No point in antagonising drunk fans when they aren't actually causing any real fuss. Let them get on with it and only step in if they cause trouble for other fans. Everything was fine. I'd rather see the opposition fans like that than sat in their seats twiddling their thumbs.

The UK has a representative who looks after the Hungarian side who have an interpreter so there is communication. Otherwise you have a rule one ice hockey match and none the next.
