A nervous home victory from this one. Not the most attractive of fixtures but hopefully given some meaning with Fife battling for their play-off lives. The Grapes Count = Panthers 4 : Flyers 2.

I think it'll be the usual below pace, Sunday afternoon performance, ending with a closer than it should be victory.

You’re probably correct but my shift pattern currently sees me only get two weekends off in every six week period; the roster hasn’t been kind to me this season.

Finished 2-0, sounds like a goalie error and an empty net. Still two points, next.

Job done, nothing else to say really.
See how Steelers get on down in Guildford.
4 point weekend and only 1 goal conceded. Lovely stuff.

Alright it wasn’t a glamorous performance, but you can tell that team are feeling it after putting in one hell of a performance last night. Fife played desperately and made us earn that one tonight, but we got the job done.

A tough game to watch but it was always going to be difficult, Fife are desperate to break their losing streak. I thought Whistle did well, it was also good to see Tetlow out there often, he certainly didn’t look out of place and made some good defensive plays. Tousignant certainly made the night a bit more enjoyable, I look forward to seeing how he does once he’s used to our systems.
This break probably couldn’t have come at a better time, from tonight’s viewing the team look like they need to recharge their batteries.

Well from heartache on Wednesday night to a 4-point weekend is what you call a bounce back, Didn't sound a good game tonight but we have 4 points in the bank and currently Guildford are 3-1 up over Steelers @ Guildford, two PPG's for flames and O'Connor kicked out of the game for cross checking according to EIHL website. End of 1st period. Cardiff split the series 1-1 after a 1-0 win over Giants tonight. So I guess its as you were going into the international break.
Time for injuries to heal and rest for Herr and co ready for the final run in.

The two biggest howlers of the season and in our favour for a change. 4 point weekend.

Boring game apart from the scrap and goals...but a win so that's all that matters really.
Fife played hard and pushed us all the way.

Alright it wasn’t a glamorous performance, but you can tell that team are feeling it after putting in one hell of a performance last night. Fife played desperately and made us earn that one tonight, but we got the job done. And I'm pleased we've won of course. But that game was absolute garbage! Fife played last night as well and had six hours on a bus (compared to our hour back from Sheffield), so they were probably more knackered than we were. It's a sign of the times I suppose that the EIHL on the whole becomes more watered down every season to my eyes. The standard gets worse but folk seem to accept that. You only have to look at what Belfast/Cardiff fans say to realise that the standard is sadly in decline. But, as has been said it's a four point weekend, nothing to do now for ten days, let's hope the team aren't 'rusty' come Manchester!

Whilst not a classic, it wasn't as dour as some games we endured over the past few seasons.
After 2 periods, it looked like a mistake would win the game and it came for us
At the end, the opposing time had the chances to equalise or win the game and unlike other games, they didn't score.
There isn't a winning in style column in the league table.
A regulation win is a regulation win. It's nice to win these scrappy games instead of losing them

As mentioned above, not a classic, but these sort of games rarely are. Apart from periods in the second period, and short spells in the third, Whistle didn't look troubled, but made some good saves none the less. Fife always come with a high forecheck and try to catch us on the break, and in general I think we shut down their style. However, this did impact on our normal play, somewhat. I thought Bulmer and Herr were quiet tonight, with the latter looking tired. The new guy, Tousignant looks quite a character, a bit Bruce Richardson esque, and certainly introduced himself to some of the opposition. Did he deserve MOM? Probably not, as the 25 shot shut out would normally get it, but you cannot ensure the sponsors go with the best player on the night IMHO. Tetlow had a good game, with several well worked passes out of defence as well as a couple of good interception. One of his better games. In the end, we had some luck, but you have to take it when it comes, and we did, and got the required 2 points in regulation.

A win is a win is a win.
No, that wasn't the greatest game of hockey ever... but that's exactly how Fife wanted it. They came down to play a shutdown disruption game... they spent all of their energy in trying to stop anything we tried to throw at them, then just hoping to exploit any gaps that we may leave. That's a hard tactic to deal with... no matter how much 'better' a team is supposed to be than their opponents. Hence the less-than-exciting experience for us fans. But at least we did capitalise on the mistakes presented to us.
