The Grapes Count = Panthers 4 : Flames 1. Cannot see us keeping a clean sheet but should apply enough pressure on a Guildford side weak between the pipes.

Looks like it’s going to be a big crowd tonight. Hopefully we see at least one more player return to the lineup. Guildford have shown they’re a tough team to beat, hopefully we can see it through.

If we win, likely other top teams will also. So a must win in the respect of not letting the others get away from us.

It’s reached the point in the season where the Panthers decide to either keep taking the money and rely on the goodwill of the fans or put their hand in their pocket and sign cover for the injured players. We are still in the running, but we won’t be for much longer playing short.

First view of the team since Boxing Day - Rubbish!
First period aside when it could have been 4-4, we were never in it. Played hard for the last 7-8 minutes (as usual) when it was too late. Mr 'Thick' didn't help taking his usual dumb penalty leaving us with a 3 on 5. Our D generally was pants as was Carr. Not much up front to shout about either! 🙁
Bring on the Cup, good seats available at a (not as much as advertised) reduced cost. If the game is on tele perhaps Uncle Neil will reduce the prices again! 🤣

Frustrating game. I wouldn't say we were terrible but the result was certainly a fair one. Thought we were ok for the first half of the game. Once they went 3 2 up we were poor for the rest of the 2nd. Showed some fight in the 3rd. Carr would want 4 & 5 back. Also the penalty call for the PP they got their 3rd on was terrible. One of those games unfortunatly, and one we cant really afford to have.

The team have done wonders in turning around the feelings of the fanbase but there is a real danger it could all be undone by not spending that bit more on even just one player. We stay competitive and they get away with it. We sign another player but miss out then people will say we gave it a good go and backed the team. But if this team now nose dives without us bringing anybody in then the annomosity and venom will come flooding back really quickly. It would be a massive own goal.

The 4th and 5th were very soft ones, I also felt that they had a big slice of luck for their 2nd, a tip from the high slot that goes top corner, you couldn’t write it. The problem with our team is we don’t have the creative depth in our forward lines, that’s been very clear for a while, when Herr and Hansen don’t change the game we struggle, as we saw tonight. We needed to sign another game changing forward (not easy I know) and unfortunately it hasn’t happened.

Will have to check the replay, but from my vantage point practically behind the shooter on their 4th, it looked to me that the shot was actually going wide , but Carr deflected it in.
Also the penalty for the 3rd was horrendous. Herr pokes his stick forward, with it on the ice at all times. Somehow the random penalty generators came out with a slashing call?!?
They clearly decided there had to be a penalty cause they missed the breakaway and made it up on the spot, but pick a penalty that would actually make sense! Absolutely clueless officiating.

We needed to sign another game changing forward (not easy I know) and unfortunately it hasn’t happened. The difference 1 decent forward added to this team would make would be massive. Even with all fit(Aside our woeful Brit situation, which could be worsened next season further if Perlini walks too). The option to have 15 imports all able to contribute and leave Rheault to focus on his studies then disapear would be great. Play 6 import D and drop one of the less effective forwards based on form/injuries. Or my preference of 5 import D with Tetlow really makes the forward lines look so much better. Our lack of depth in the forwards is evident by how much time Lacho has spent on the 3rd line. Imagine something along the lines of. Herr Malmquist Hansen Bulmer Talbot Perlini Ollie Import Horvat Golovkos Lacho Kelsall Ok, picking who drops to the 4th line with Lacho and Kelsall is a bit of a headache but one Id much rather have that what we have now.

Aside from the first 10 mins and the last 5 we looked tired, sluggish and not at the races.
Flames were quicker and we couldn't deal with it. Carr letting the 4th slip through his fingers summed it up really.
However the 4 min penalty kill in the first was fantastic.

Can't believe how often our d men pinched in and left odd man rushes with a forward having to cover, and left a trailer coming in with a free shot, which I blame on the forwards not tracking back. Without Olly, and Lacho tonight, there would have been no energy going forward. Surprised Whistle didnt start, Carr was poor. Flames should have got a minor pen for celebrating goal when it clearly hadnt gone in !

Disappointed by not surprised.
We've played lots of games and picked up some injuries, which we haven't brought in injury cover for. I know we're carrying an extra import already but any team who intends to contend for the title must act quickly when they pick up a few injuries and leave guys playing excessive minutes, wearing others down too.
Carr has been over-played as far as I'm concerned but I'm not surprised, he's been hot and consistently for the last couple of months. I wish we'd have played Whistle tonight, I don't think it'll be appropriate to play Whistle tomorrow or Wednesday, with both being absolute must wins.
Guildford are a good team, they deserved the win.
If someone told me at the end of October that we'd still be in the title race come February, I'd have asked what they'd just smoked considering how poor we started. Fingers crossed we go into Cardiff tomorrow like we own the place and get ourselves back on track.

Out worked and out played
We look tired, not sure why we didn’t play Kelsall and Hazeldine more. Carr looked knackered and Whistle should have played

All this Carr has played too much doesn't cut it for me. Duba has played every game and is 10 years older! Carr made a bad error on their 4th but that wasn't down to fatigue
