Third game running Devils have shipped five. Open season if you’ve got the weaponry.

Probably should've taken a lead from 3-1 up, but all square is fine. I won't say we'll win the return leg because some of you will get upset, but we will

Four months ago Panthers were losing a cup game to Storm in front of a midweek crowd of about 2,000 before Neil Black had to appear on BBC Facebook to feebly attempt damage control.
Today they’re leaving Cardiff’s rink in a commanding position in the semi-final of the same competition, ruing missed chances for a deserved win.
Pretty carlsberg stuff, if you ask me.

Also can’t say I’d feel confident about facing Sheffield as a fan of either team.
Not that they’re through yet, of course.

Ben Bowns looks shot to pieces. You play 84 games in 12 months and you'll see why

Ben Bowns looks shot to pieces. By all accounts, Cardiff are overplaying him. Which - with my GB fan hat on - worries me somewhat.

According to the EIHL website, Ollie got 2 goals tonight! Nice one, lad...
And not a single point for Herr? One has to wonder if Cardiff spent too much effort locking him down.

Ben Bowns looks shot to pieces. Thought the same, he didn't look great on most of those goals. Worrying thing if you're a Cardiff fan is that he's played a lot of hockey over the last few years, and the games at this point of the season are too important to put Murdy or one of the young kids in. (anyone know if Murdy has been injured because normally he's had a game or two by now?)

This is always likely to happen.. teams know what Herr is capable of they will try and shut him down leaving space for other to exploit.

I love that he had the audacity to complain after being called.

By the game sheet we went into OT and Cardiff scored. So it's hard to tell what went on. Lacho got an assist tonight also but apparently got one last game but was no where near any play that got the goal.

He may have got one tonight (on Betteridge’s 1st goal) but it’s hard to tell from the highlights. He definitely shouldn’t have been given one in Fife, as Bobness quite rightly pointed out.

If I would have been offered a tie before the game started tonight I’d have bitten your hand off. With Cardiff feeling wounded after the weekend and ourselves still missing players, I was quite worried about tonight, but this team again shows what they’re made of. I don’t think Bowns is playing to his usual standard right now and we took advantage of that, he seemed to struggle whenever a player got a shot off quickly. Despite losing the lead tonight I’m still proud of the way the team battled and ultimately fought back.
With the discounted ticket prices for the 2nd leg, hopefully we get a big crowd in because the team deserve it and they deserve our support.

A very good result, we’re knackered and missing some bodies but we still keep churning out what we need to. Bowns is all over the place and Cardiff’s D is really struggling to give him any rest. Lord has probably left it too late now to rest him for a sustained period as they’re playing catchup in the league and the fixtures are tightening up.
I’d like to see us get one or two in, they don’t have to be mega stars, just a solid contributor who can fill shifts in to save the others. Massive chance to progress here.

Ollie was great which isn’t unusual anymore even at this level. A real little powerhouse

0 for 6 on the PP, including 2 brief 5 on 3s, 1 for 3 on the PK, and conceded 4 goals on 18 shots in the 3rd, 46 shots conceded overall.
Panthers have done very well to come out of that making a winner take all game next week.

First 2 consecutive games without a point all season, and first CC cup game without a point. We're doomed... (He was on-ice for 2 goals scored and 2 conceded)

Just seen the highlights and a little question mark over Kevin Carr. Beaten 3 times over his left shoulder and didn't seem to track any of them. Is he leaving too much of a gap to shoot over at his left post?

Is he leaving too much of a gap to shoot over at his left post? Devils 4th there's no much he can do. Riley is in so tight that he has to get to his knees and he'll always leave some gap over his shoulder. That ones on the defence for the turnover and leaving Riley in acres of space. 5th one is a bit awkward, he's not tracked the pass that took place behind him and is looking at the passer when the Shooter is teeing up. 1st one maybe would like another shot at.
