So effectively we’ve gained nothing other than more injuries from this competition. Just Great. "Hot & Cold" Bulmer out for a few weeks from an already questionable forward lineup

Congratulations to SonderjyskE, first Danish winners apparently. The League is much more important than the Continental Cup and you cannot choose whether you take part or not. Enjoyable though the European adventure has been we are now left with a weakened squad for the important stuff.

Do you think that they will continue to do the head to head result as the tiebreaker or will they go for something else so that completely unnecessary games (that are the final fixture) are a rarity

Extreme naivety towards Euro reffing and slow starting but it's all level 3-3

Several EIHL teams have turned it down in previous years, although that was in the days prior to winning it giving you possible CHL qualification.

I know you can choose to take part or not in the Continental Cup. I meant the league was compulsory.

Decent effort from a depleted team in a dead rubber.

Decent effort from a depleted team in a dead rubber. They pretty much gave it everything. Lépine was immense (never thought I would say that)

The difference between the 2 teams was penalty shots. Panthers put a great effort in but ultimately, we weren’t good enough in that first game.
Either way, the lack of silverware will hopefully drive the team to hate this failure.
Special mention had to go to Lepine. For me, his best performances have come in the last month or so. I think what he’s added at the back end this season is what we expected last season.

Naivety with regards the Euro refs hurt us all three games and problems with the forwards has hurt us all season. Without Herr, Hansen and Talbot I think we would be bottom of the league.

A few questions I have.
Last season did we get 2 CHL spots because the CC winners said no and as runners up the place went to Giants. Then Cardiff got the 2nd slot from being runners up in league/winning play offs?
Do we know if the Danes will take their CHL slot yet? Perhaps a reason for Panthers wanting to win the game?

That’s pretty much it, the winners last year didn’t get in because either their rink wasn’t suitable or teams from their league don’t enter the CHL, can’t remember the exact case. As you say, getting 2nd place opens the door if a similar situation occurs, but Danish teams have entered before and I’d expect Vojens to be taking part next season.

Although it’s disappointing that we didn’t pick up the gold medal, I’m proud of the team, they are totally committed to the cause and you get the impression that they play for the badge and the fans. So close with a key player missing from the start of the weekend.
Hopefully they can take this weekends result and use it to push us on, starting this Thursday.
