These games are now massive. Discipline is going to be absolutely key in both of them. Sheffield’s recent form has coincided with their powerplay stepping up, but, they seem to get a lot of opportunities. They have a lot of players that are good at drawing penalties though...
We need to get the first goal in this game as I can see Sheffield wanting to sit back and counter us. They’ll wait for our mistakes, look to turn us over in the neutral zone and the breakdowns, that’s how they played in our recent homeboy game. If we get a lead they have to come out and attack, take risks.
Also, hopefully we see the return of Perlini. I do think we’ve been missing his offensive threat and he’ll give us some extra depth which Sheffield don’t have right now.

Certainly going into this one a lot more optimistic. Of course still a bit worried we'll continue our struggles against them. We need everybody to show up together a bit like in Coventry yesterday, we cant afford to be relying on 1 player like boxing day with 3 or 4 having off days. I have one major concern though. 3 line hockey and the shift lengths the forwards appear to be putting in. It's been o.k for us so far, but coming up against Sheffield after a heavy number of games could see us suffer. The guys are putting in a lot of effort and delivering results but thats going to catch up with them at some point. Perlini being back would be a great help and although it's obviously not going to happen any time soon we could really do with another forward instead of Rheault. Those forward lines would look a hell of a lot healthier with Perlini in + a forward of similar budget to Rheault.

Apparently they have a long injury list!.. what's the betting they all ice apart from Dowd Bettauer is out (not played since Nov 27), Dowd long term, Aaron Johnson has been out since Nov 17, Armstrong hasn't played since Dec 14th, and neither O'Connor nor Vallerand dressed on the 28th. That said, they still managed to get 13 imports dressed for the game on the 28th!

Doesn't matter I'd expect them all bar Dowd to play.. its Steelers they will have players at 50% playing the panthers that's always been the case!

Steelers have had injuries yes but they’ve replaced them as they’ve signed Troncinsky,Hrabel,Sandström and Kohlelainen. Plus they’ve got Liwing back now so they aren’t exactly short on bodies, they’ve got 17 imports on their books.

O’connor and Vallerand didn’t play in their game on the 28th due to illness, so I’d expect them to be playing tomorrow. I’ve seen reports that Armstrong was back to on-ice training with the Steelers, before their game on 28th, but he had a no-contact jersey on, so he could be a game day decision. Sheffield are terrible in the face off circle without Armstrong, here’s hoping he’s not fit for tomorrow.

Heart says Panthers. Head says those pesky Orange Tango Men from up the M1. Sincerely hope my Grapes Count is wrong but, the Grapes Count reads ;- Panthers 1 : Steelers 3.

I thought we would have them last time as our form had picked up. Are we any better now? who knows. We go all guns blazing for the first 10 mins and Steelers just sit back and hit us every time in the 3rd when we're half knackered. Hopefully today we can finish on a high in front of a full house and the tv as Steelers are the only team (I think)we haven't beaten in the league yet. Panthers 5 Steelers 3

Steelers are the only team (I think)we haven't beaten in the league yet. You are correct, sir... Indeed. An OT loss in November up there, and the 2-3 game here on 1 Dec. Special teams will be the key tonight, I think. Panthers are 1-10 on the PP against Steelers in the league, and a perfect 8 for 8 on the PK in those 2 games. Steelers are the only EIHL team yet to score a league PP goal against Panthers this season. Panthers PK and PK are, overall, 16.35% and 80.36% per the EIHL, and Steelers are 22.22% and 82.28%, with a SHG each. Panthers will need to keep out of the box.

Shitting him down will be massive. 1 of 2 ways for me. Just ignore his rat stuff or go straight for him big time from the off. There cant be any inbetween. Taking 1 big penalty for say Tetlow early on may pay back for the rest of the game. Reacting to him all game and we will struggle.

Unfortunatly it really looks like one of those games we've seen all to often before. One of the most dominant periods i've seen us have in a long time, in every area. We having nothing on the scoreboard though at that has me really worried.

Lachowitz is bloody hopeless. Continually gives the puck away, then falls over two feet from an empty net with the puck at his feet. Sheffield go down the other end and score. Bench the powderpuff idiot.
