Good that even with the team in very good form that we’re still looking to improve on someone that hasn’t been firing at all. Hopefully Horvat settles in as well as Hansen and Talbot.

Very similar to Herr in terms of AHL numbers.

TBH, we thought that about Hanson, if he does anything like him, we'll be fine

Quist should have gone with Jacobs!
Well Panthers now have a roster I was expecting in August !! Or its certainly getting there..
Fancy that Panthers actually strengthening when in good form as well.
Horvat looks decent!

Great swap. Quist never offered anything and clearly struggled to adapt to the league.
Horvat could be a fan favourite i feel, as he looks like a undersized gritty forward who will dig in and grind away in the dirty areas and isnt afraid to drop them either.
hopefully can add some more offensive punch too.
Vary pleased with this mornings dealings - but as has been said before, why does it always take until now to start putting together a roster near what we'd expect in July?

Quist never seemed to ‘bust a gut’ if nothing else I hope Horvat has more energy never mind what numbers he puts up.
This is a great bit of business today from Panthers.

I see he also know a couple of the players from previous teams, Herr from 15/16 and Fick from 18/19 also played alongside Kevin Raine from Cardiff.
Hopefully he settles in and makes an impact.

I’m dissapointed that Quist hasn’t performed as well as we hoped and wanted but we wish him all the best, I was looking forward to seeing what he could do with us but unfortunately it’s not worked out, hopefully he picks up another job quickly back in Scandinavia.
This is brilliant work from the club I feel. Horvat’s been regular AHL’er in the last six seasons with average points totals (maybe he was shoehorned into an energy/bottom six role the same as one Sam Herr?), he wore an A two years running with Springfield and he’s certainly not afraid to drop the gloves.
Hopefully he’ll provide a different goal scoring option by going to the dirty areas, taking wacks around the net and getting under the skin of the opposition. Doucet has said he’s going to be in the line-up on Wednesday if everything falls in place so this has been a brilliant piece of work by the club, they deserve credit for changing and looking to improve even when our form has been decent.
With Golovkovs to come back in I’m looking forward to seeing how we play when at full strength!

Looks a good pick-up for this time of season, but time will tell. Looks an opportunistic signing, as it states on the O/S that Quist asked to be released rather being released by the club, so Ducet may have had a couple of weeks to go looking (and we have known for some time that Horvat was available). The question will be who we drop when Horvat is here and Gloves is available. For me, Rheault should make way.
Edited to say that Quist has already disappeared on the O/S players list, so maybe was working 2 weeks notice and Sunday was always going to be last game. Seems to add up IF he was already looking for a new club when given time off after Conti Cup.

Very similar to Herr in terms of AHL numbers. Let's hope he has a similar impact. Good luck to Quist, it just didn't happen for him, it seems. It's not happened for Rheault for two seasons now, he will surely be the prime candidate for the scratch?

Ah, this is what Doucet does. Signs quality players to replace under-performing ones. Fascinating concept this.

Line speculation here - these are the lines from Sunday as per the EIHL twitter. Not sure if Horvat slots into Quist's spot on the 3rd line for the time being or theres more tinkering happening.
Malmqvist / Talbot / Bulmer Herr / Perlini / Hansen Quist / Lacho / Betteridge Hazeldine / Kelsall / Rheault
Just typing those lines out shows how top heavy scoring wise we are without a Clarke / Farmer impact brit in the lineup, which seriously impacts our depth against the top teams. This is those lines point-wise as of today [starred players are in-season additions]:
9 / 6* / 9 22 / 18 / 9* 5 / 2 / 5 0 / 0 / 6

Sounds like it was a family illness back home in Sweden which was the catalyst. Perhaps when he returned home after the Continental Cup he got a clear understanding of what was going on back home and decided to hand his notice in.
Wish him the best for the future anyway.
Very happy to have us get Horvat, and have him in for Wednesday already too. Hopefully works as hard as Herr, and hopefully add some physicality to our game as well as his leadership qualities.

The third line will likely benefit the most here, with Golovkovs back (still Panthers fourth top scorer in the EIHL despite missing 6 games...) and Horvat slotting in there, one assumes alongside Betteridge. That'sa much better third line than lately. Lacho and the lads on the 4th.

Kelsall did get some PK time but apart from that I don’t think either iced 5 on 5

When all players are fully fit, the lines I’d like to see are:
Horvat - Talbot - Bulmer Herr - Perlini - Hanson Golovkovs - Malmquist - Betteridge Hazeldine - Lacho - Kelsall Rheault
A strong top 6, a decent 3rd line with speed and energy, then the 4th line to give the guys a break every so often and carry out PK duties.

If this guy puts up half the numbers of Herr, we’ve massively upgraded.
Be interesting to see how many we can keep for next season. Him and Herr in their mid twenties as career AHLers are a fantastic core to build around

We all new we needed to build a core and that that was Doucets plan from the start but is was difficult to see who we could build this core around. Now, Herr, Hansen, Talbot, Deutsch and hopefully Horvat will be a good place to start. Didn't realised when announced how many fights he's had. There's a fair few videos out there including fights against Bobby Farnham and Blair Riley

Less chance to chop and change things next year too with the new rules coming in about squad sizes.
Have to get it right more or less straight away.
This was the right move for me. Quist hugely dissappointed, just didn't look like he fit in. Horvat should add a bit of strength to our forward lines, hopefully cause a bit of havoc too.
