Fantastic announcement. Sure beats playing Poland twice at the SkyDome(no disrespect to Poland).
Should be a relatively strong Canadian roster so some real good hockey to be watched.
I'll be heading back from Toronto for this and then on to the Worlds.
This fixture is proof that we are starting to be taken seriously in world hockey.

I wouldn't quite go that far, we're still a joke. We did the bare minimum to stay up.
You're basically paying £40 to watch a training session

I was... and I can tell you straight off - the GB team are most certainly not regarded as a joke by the opposing teams... including the big boys. Actually, there was one team that initially regarded GB as a joke... France. Oops. The GB team may often be outclassed, and everyone knows it... but other teams have learned to take us seriously. Which will make it even harder in Switzerland, but there you go. And if you don't want to watch the match, don't - that's your privilege. Nobody will miss you.

Yes I know it won't be the very best Canada has to offer but they will have 2/3 stars minimum. Hey, if you're happy to watch EIHL quality hockey the whole year though then fill your boots 😊 I'm sure those at the NIC for the game won't miss you. Shaggy is right. We will never be a hockey powerhouse but we've shown that we do have some talent and even more heart. That has earned us respect around the world whether you care to admit it or not.

40 quid to see some of the best talent Panthers fans are ever likely to see and have seen in the last 20 years of the NIC
It's a small price.

You're basically paying £40 to watch a training session Both their only match before the WCs and 3 days before they actually play their 1st WC match. It'll be anything but a training session! Fantastic value for a team that visits here once every 20 odd years.

He’s used to watching a team find ways to lose rather than find a way to win when the pressures on. Plus you’d think he’d be used to watching glorified training sessions being a clan fan....usually they spend the last third of the season in mid table mediocrity and then play 2 games that mean something only to come short again. That’s why they’re all so loud at playoffs....they’ve had nothing to cheer about since January normally.

They will have more that 2/3 stars.. as I'd imagine they will bring their WC roster over to the uk en route to Switzerland. All depends which team makes or misses out on the playoffs but quite a few players join up if their teams bomb out in the first round. Alexis Lafraniere and Quinton Byfield who are predicted to go #1 and #2 in next years draft are a possibility but I'd imagine they will play in the world U20 first.. for me I'd say Byfield has more of a chance as hes more NHL ready next year..

Their Worlds roster won't be packed with stars. A small handful of big names potentially but majority just solid NHL players. Which by some definition would make them stars and it'll be great to watch but important to manage expectations. We won't be seeing any Crosby-Tavares-McDavid lines. Exciting times for sure though. Have to remember sometimes to take this all in because we're punching well above our weight and although we deserve everything we are getting, we won't be here long term.

Well, I've gone and bought my first ticket of the season and it's for the Olympic last game (I presume decider?)versus Hungary. I may very well have bought the whole three GB game ticket but they shot themselves in the foot with the price for this one in May because of my limitation on spending. Debatable about the worthiness of cost to this game but in order to afford the latter one I had to lower my sights on the Olympic tournament due in February.

What's Panthers excuse for being so poo poo?

What's Panthers excuse for being so poo poo? Very true if Mr Black’s statement of his way of running each teams budget is correct. Clans crowds are half the size of Panthers, therefore half the ticket revenue, therefore half the player budget. Clan are doing very well on 50% of Panthers spend.

Since the Clan joined the league, let’s check trophies and see who’s been “poo poo” We even loaded it in your favour for a fair few seasons and you still couldn’t get it done. Other than last year, even in our worse years, we’ve still done something memorable. Can’t even call you guys the bridesmaids because well you’ve never made a final. You are fantastic flower girls though 👍

No I expect GB will get relegated this time round due to the fact Belerus cant get relegated I think. Going back to this game, it Could have been easier just for canada play against the likes of Slovakia in a friendly in Switzerland who are more their standard. Definitely huge credit to UK hockey for getting the foresight in attempting this. McDavid didnt play last year and Tavares was on the roster but pulled out through injury. You may be surprised who they select.

No I expect GB will get relegated this time round due to the fact Belerus cant get relegated I think. It's worse than you think. Belarus and Latvia are co-hosting the 2021 Worlds, so neither of those two teams can be relegated next May. Which means GB have to finish above 2 other teams who aren't either Belarus or Latvia if they are to stay up at the top level. A task made all the harder by the fact that the other teams now know that GB can achieve more than expected... we won't be underestimated again. If staying up in Slovakia was a minor miracle, then staying up in Switzerland will be a major miracle! But who knows? None of us expected to win the group in Budapest in April 2018, and none of us expected to avoid relegation in Kosice earlier this year. The GB team have shown that they can dig deep and massively overachieve. I am expecting relegation next May. But I could be wrong - again.

Won't the co-hosts be in different groups so it's one other team as well as one of these we'd have to be above. I.e.) 3rd from bottom of a group. These co- hosting makes it fine financially but unfair in this respect. In 1994 in Italy it was a 12 team event. To get into 6th place this time round would put us into the top 12. Definitely a major achievement.
