If anyone knew, you might think they would reply?
Or, have a bit of patience perhaps?

Not very clear on IH pdate but it says we missed all 3 penalties (Clarke, McAslan, Cardarelli) and belfast scored 1 (Jeff Hutchins)

i wonder why ME didnt let gallant have a shot!?!?! and well done woolie for saving awadas! does seem a little strange not letting Gallant have one but if it was 2 saves by Wooly (and not 2 miss shots) then a massive effort by him shame our shooters couldt put them in the net :-(

Question. As Awada was in the penalty box at the end of OT can he still take a penalty shot? this has been on the panthers site in the match report (sorry don't no how to do links) and it sounds like the panthers thought he could not take one but the league rules say you can unless your doing a 10 min pen doesn't matter he missed any way Click <<Here>> for the link to Panthers website - MP (Cage Admin)

Don't you just love the EIHL rule book - they really do seem to make it up as they go along! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) A quote from Mike Ellis: "We made three bad defensive errors and they capitalised on each and every one of them." Stating the obvious there Mike...I sure hope you're going to fix that for next season because we've been making bad defensive mistakes all season long!

Good game tonight. the traveling panthers fans were great(best away support imo this season) GIVE US A BACK UP NETTIE LIKE YOURS ANYDAY! HE PLAYED REALLY WELL. If anyone wants to have a go at a player pick Neilson and not the nettie. I think the panthers fans at door 7 would agree with that.

As a BACK UP geoff is ok, i just wonder how injured rast is, or maybe he's just saving his energy for the p.o. The news from the panthers camp or lack of is concerning. Geoff makes some great saves in a game however IMO he is prone to silly errors. Dont get me started on Neilson! put it this way ive been happy with 3 out of 4 d-men! ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png)

i dont think rasto is too bad as i have seen him at the gym 3 times this week and he seems pretty mobile and is doing all sorts of stretches etc.
know its not the same as game fitness - but as perceptions go, i dont think he's to far from coming back.
good battling result guys

It was a good, solid team performance. Dominated the 1st and 3rd periods, outshot them 35-27, but the difference was that our few mistakes were almost all punished, there's weren't. Even with our mistakes being punished, we had ample chances to win it. McAslan fanned one in overtime, and chose to shoot when a pass to Gallant would have given him a shot on an empty net.
I wouldn't be too harsh on Neilson; whilst he gave it away in the build-up to the 2nd Giants equaliser, we recovered it, only for Mike Rees to give it away again for Awada to score. Awada didn't do much in the game, but ended up with a hat-trick and MoM. By the way his penalty shot hit the post, so Woolly didn't save either of the ones he faced, as Giants didn't need to take their third. Quite why Boniface let Awada take a penalty shot when he still had 45 seconds of his penalty left is beyond me.
Woolly did make some good saves, but looked a little uncertain at times.
Our top line (38,37 and 71) looked as good as any line in the league this season. Gallant's a different class, and one hopes that with 3 more games before the Play offs the other players can learn from him.
Most ironic happening - no beer for the team afterwards. Apparently they hadn't had a delivery for 3 weeks - who sponsors the Giants??
Funniest moment - Linesman forgetting to put the puck on the centre spot for Cardarelli's penalty shot.

As well as Wooly may be doing, i think the lack of a quality goalie is costing us.

As well as Wooly may be doing, i think the lack of a quality goalie is costing us. Well its not helping us is it, he's trying his best and if we were the kind of team that regularly scored 5 or 6 then it would be ok, but we have a team where the forwards blow hot or cold depending on the night. We need someone solid to stop the pucks, also if our d showed up sometimes it wouldnt matter as much! Edit> Rolly eyes deleted due to pomposity

I'm not slating Woolhouse at all because he's done as well as his ability can let him. We just desperately need a real number one goalie, and for all the effort in the world, Wooly will never be that.

Agreed the number one goalie is needed but some people are slating Wooly for not being a number one goalie. I dont fully understand that.
Its like slating the Brit line for not being as good as our 1st line of imports.
We havent got the luxury of 3 lines of top imports, just like we havent got the luxury of 2 top quality 1st choice goalies.
(not you Newham but reading back over the thread)
