A lot of people are talking about who we should sign back and build for next season....you know who no one has mentioned...Tim Wallace. I was fully sceptical of his appointment. I was calling for his head in October. But for me, he’s proven his skill set as a coach, as a tactician and for us playing entertaining hockey. Fact is after an 10 plus game losing streak and a horrible start, were still in the league hunt in January is excellent. He’s really turned us around. Yes Wallace should be retained for another year,he’s done ok so far. Not quite sure what exactly Doucet has brought to the party though,I’d much rather see his £30k a year or whatever he’s on spent on players. There’s a £1000 a week extra you could chuck at keeping Sam Herr for a start. From what I have heard £30,000 is a conservative estimate

From what I have heard £30,000 is a conservative estimate I wouldn’t be surprised, they’ll spend the money in the wrong areas but not the right ones. They supposedly paid Mcgrattan £2000 a week, but I bet Herr was on nowhere near that last year. Yet who was better value for money ! Just think, offer Herr the same as Mcgrattan, then sack Doucet and give Herr the extra £1000 a week. Would Herr have stayed for £3000 a week...my guess is yes. That’s how you win championships, you do everything you can to keep your best players.

Sometimes player's wish to better their careers by playing in better leagues and not just chase the money!

It's good how in fag packet hockey maths, the answer is always that Panthers are cheap.

No, the one you apparently said that called him the best player in the league Don't try and split hairs, I was correct in my prediction of Herr, end of 😁😉 Not splitting hairs at all. You earlier claimed that But then I also said at the start of the thread that he'd be not just the top forward at panthers but also the league.. That quote just doesn't exist, does it? The nearest you got was Signing of the summer so far! Of any team !! That's a stud.. not sure why hes chose to come to the U.K at that age but I ll take it. Great work Doucet and Wallace! which was in line with the general feelings of a few people on here. All of whom have been proved "right". Or that, in this case, the predictions they made on a player they'd never seen play, just by looking at his CV, came true. Three times you've resurrected this thread to crow about how "right" you were. That's Olympic level hubris. Presumably, though, you're being heroically parochial and self deprecating, and I've just missed the subtlety? However, when you put this in, which you said about another signing, it unravels a bit. Admittedly not quite as fulsome as the praise you heaped on Herr, but do you stand by that one now too? Horvat only scored in 2 of his 27 league games. A worse record than our #7, who's come in for some right stick. Opinions are what makes this place go round (along with digging at Sheffield given half a chance) but don't make stuff up to try and make yourself look better. Herr was pure quality, that is not in doubt. You weren't the only one to predict that, by a long way. But nowhere did you say that he'd be the top forward in the league. A broken clock is right twice a day, though.

Nowhere near for me. The numbers just arent there. Perlini has better NCAA number as do tonnes of guys in our league. Kevin Henderson has 50% higher ppg in the AHL. Im sure he'll do a job for us but i doubt he'll turn out to be a stud. I have him at sumit like 0.6 ppg. Not convinced the the recruitment so far at all. Still of this opinion eh 🤣😉 There's always outliers in stats. Nothing in his previous stats suggested he'd be anywhere near his final points total. Nice to know you go to the effort of trawling through old threads looking to have digs though.

Don't forget, a certain poster also said, when Quist's signing was announced, that he'd love a team of Swedes, as they tend to be more driven and focussed. I make that 1 for 3 now, on that small sample. Just goes to show, eh?

Yet the majority of swedes who come to this league have been a success beit at Coventry, Guildford, steelers and in the past Panthers such as Wallenberg and Molin to name two,.problem is those signed last year by gui were crap.

But then I also said at the start of the thread that he'd be not just the top forward at panthers but also the league.. Wow this story really does get bigger each passing year doesn't it??? Are you sure the quote from the Sam Herr thread you're looking for isn't actually this one? If you are gonna argue at least get your facts right hey 🤣 You said you thought he was the signing of the off-season so far at that point (July 5th)... Signing of the summer so far! Of any team !! That's a stud.. not sure why hes chose to come to the U.K at that age but I ll take it. Great work Doucet and Wallace! ...but, even with that, you only said that you thought he'd be top six...in the Panthers team: Put it this way if he isn't top 6 I'm very excited to see the quality of our top 6 forwards! This guy will be a top 6 forward .. end of... let's be sensible Which, since we started the season with what 8 or 9 import forwards, is hardly a huge statement. And that is a *whole world away* from saying he'll be *the top forward in the league*. After all, four days later (July 9th) you were quite adamant that with regards to League comparison it was far too early to tell anything about the quality of our forwards. Well as things stand the Panthers defence is comparable to that of steelers and devils and their .. not enough panthere forwards have been announced yet to form any comparison yet. All wait and see 😊 Surely, this is the point you'd have said he would top the league?! Watching this thread get revived *yet again* 2 years later feels a bit like playing that game from infant school where everyone passed on a message and by the end of the line it had got changed so much it bore no relation to the original. Except that the only people in this particular line of reinvention seem to be Pidge and, well, Pidge. I'll look forward to 2022's revival version to see just how even more accurate and prescient you were back in 2019 Pidge. Maybe by then we'll discover you'd also predicted his 1.29 PPG return back in 2019? Perhaps. But I guess we'll...

Now, now, let’s not let some facts get in the way of anything, eh? I’m looking forward to him telling us who’s going to be the best player in the league this year, just like he did 2 seasons ago.
