Just to reiterate pretty much every other sentiment here - after a few years of getting things better PR-wise after GM's social media cluelessness, this is a massively daft own goal.
No one knows for sure whether Taylor ever had any definite interest in the EIHL, whether he's signed for a rival already or whether he's signing abroad again.
But if you were the panthers org you knew you hadn't signed him so don't play up to the fans (unfair?) expectations that they're getting a KHL caliber goalie when you've actually signed an ECHL caliber one. Whats the old business maxim - under promise and over deliver not over promise and under deliver.
General PR calamities aside the two most important bits of this for me are; they've managed to make their own fans look like mugs and made them easy targets for the stream of 'you thought you were getting Danny Taylor lol' jokes from the rest of the league. And most importantly they've made an absolute damp squib of the signing of their new starting goalie, who to most of the fanbase is now just 'not Danny Taylor'!
They really do make following this team a tough ask at times...

Give the lad a chance I would agree with that sentiment if he held his hands up and said, yup, own goal, really sorry. However, the lad has dug his heels in, sent out a gif in a tweet that has only goaded people and swizzled them off more. Sense of arrogance or just really stupid and not reading the feeling from the fanbase. Netminder looks ok, is another wait and see signing, think he will probably be the middle of the pack, but wont be challenging Bowns or Owen for the tops slot in the stats, hope to be proved wrong.

Tbh the Belfast goalie last year never had Brill stats before he rolled up in Scotland . Their stats are down to the 5/6 guys in front of them.. MM, BC and GL isn't the worst start. Need to physical d men on the right side now.

The critical thing with this signing is the new coach played on the same team so has great insight to his ability

Who is this clown doing the social media now ? He also got it wrong in the Conti cup news saying Panthers were ranked No32 when they won it. They weren’t at all, somebody needs to tell him that ranking was in the CHL. 🙄🙄

Dan has been doing the social media for the past 18 months. He's not new to the job.

Why would the fans need to know one of the background team has left the club?

Looking at his stats and some of the footage available, I think we’ve signed a real gem here.

I've simmered down now and Carr looks to have a decent set of numbers. It's not a big CV but it's not bad either. Largely when it comes to imports we only have CVs and stats to go off until we see them play. It's not a wow signing but how many of those have we seen under deliver in the past. The reality is you can only wait and see with anybody. Big CVs have failed misserably whilst little known guys have come and been awesome. Then there are those that live up to expectstions both good and bad.
I really hope he comes in and does an awesome job. One thing I would like to see is for us to commit to 1 goalie this year. Everything says 2 good imports fighting it out should work, but ever since we won the league we have had 2 imports of varying levels and it hasn't worked. In contrast pretty much every league winner since 2012/2013 has had 1 guy who has played a huge chunk of the league games, Bowns in particular(Sheffield used 2 the years they did it but I think those goalies didn't overlap for the whole season). With Gospel going out we may still need a Munson type which Im happy with but it needs to be clear. Carr is number 1 and plays unless he is injured or has a prolonged period of poor form. The constant chopping and changing game to game to keep both happy clearly hasn't been working for us. It doesn't help them being in and out and I imagine it makes it difficult for the team in front of them to adapt every other game, depending on which goalie with a different style is playing.
Heres hoping he is a gem and allows us to be in the race much deeper into the season.

Looking at his stats and some of the footage available, I think we’ve signed a real gem here. As you say Jono, he’s had solid stats all the way through his career, he won’t break the bank, and importantly, he’s played on the same team as Wallace.

Why would the fans need to know one of the background team has left the club? I guess it would be a bit of news that they could have put out to show how they were communicating with fans. Someone the fans knew and it was a good chance to supplement news that was probably just a bore fest for some on sponsorship's etc.. Not seen a programme for ages, but a good chance to thank someone they earmarked on a job and be more transparent I assume.

I'm all for criticising the Panthers when it's deserved & my god yesterday deserves some proper criticism but having the hump over not being informed about a background person leaving the fold seems rather excessive.
