I went to Manchester arena the other week and they have airport style scanners and the whole entry into the facility was alot more professional. If the facilities fee goes towards these, I'm fine with it. Funny that the fee is only applicable for Panthers games though.

Just looking and it seems other events have "facilities fees" and "admin fees" while some just have "admin fees" , although amounts vary with them. Just looked at the Westlife (first event on the list) and its £90 for the ticket PLUS £10.80 admin fee and £0.90 facilities fee. Then checkeMarvel live, it's £50 for the ticket PLUS £6 admin, but no facilities fee. That's some ridiculous "fees" they are taking in.

Is the fee across all events or is it solely for Panthers games? All events I think, I was looking at a show in December and the fee was £5.40 per ticket with no reduction for kids.

I think that's better than being propped up by rate payers to be honest

All of the big venues apply various fees that I find disgusting. Perhaps the daftest is the charge applied to purchases that are COLLECTED from the box office ! Whatever the event, including ice hockey, the published ticket price should be exactly that. If organisations want to "milk/rob" their customers they should include all these additional fees in with the stated ticket prices so that the potential customer knows up front the exact full cost before deciding whether or not to buy their tickets.

Regarding the security procedures at the Arena, they are merely 'security theatre' to give the punters the feeling that they are doing something. From my experience (having worked in a role within the military that required such knowledge) there are multiple failings in the Arena's procedures if you scratch beneath the veneer.
- The security procedures you experience before events are only ramped up immediately before said events. Outside of these times there is a laughably lax attitude to security, with multiple places around the venue accessible without challenge, where a device or items could be stashed for later retrieval.
- To compound the above, minimal security sweeps are performed before events meaning; A) Any such pre-positioned devices/items are unlikely to be discovered and; B) If a so-inclined person were to turn up at the venue early enough they will avoid the security screening and merely have to hang around for a bit within the venue, say sat drinking a coffee in one of the convenient cafes/bars.
- The actual security screening itself is ineffective. As already mentioned few (if any) of the staff who were operating the 'wands' seem to understand how to use them and the quality of bag searches was incredibly hit and miss. As someone who regularly carries a hockey bag into the venue and has whilst the searches are in place, I've only ever experienced lip service searching no more than opening the zip and looking in. Funnily enough you can fit a lot into a hockey bag and its something that doesn't look out of place being taken into the National Ice Arena. Of course I'm sure a potential terrorist wouldn't notice such things though...
- The funnelling of attendees pre-search into relatively unprotected but congested areas both presents an attractive target for explosive devices, but also (on Lower Parliament Street) the far simpler 'truck vs pedestrians' type attacks that have proved so effective in France, Spain and elsewhere.
There are other failings but I think you get the picture.

I once had a young lady on security eagerly take a dive, almost head first, into my kit bag. I'm guessing they were new, because as soon as she got a good whiff, she suddenly wasn't so dilgent anymore and quickly waved me on through...

There one entertainment venue in Nottingham that charges you to print at home!!

Interesting that this disgusting fee has increased just for next week's cup semi final second leg against Cardiff. On one hand the Panthers org 'slash' the prices to £10 across the board, then lo & behold the usual £1.20 'facilities fee' almost doubles to £2.20 a ticket. The normal 60p charge for juniors/teens has also leapt to £2.20. Can't quite see the reasoning behind this apart from to sting folks for more cos they're getting in for less! It makes my teeth itch! 😡

Does anyone know if there are "add-ons" at Sheffield when they hold their five pounds across the board ticket events, and if so how much and under what 'title' ?

Upon further 'investigation' it appears as though it's the Panthers and not the NIC that are the cause of this. The usual £1.20 facilities fee is evident, but, mysteriously, a 'Panthers Standard Booking Fee' charge of £1 per ticket has appeared from nowhere. Of the other games with tickets currently on sale, this Panthers Standard Booking Fee is not evident. What the hell is going off??!! 😡

So the tickets aren't actually £10 each at all then? Much like the NHS isn't going to get £350m a week in a couple of weeks....

Oddly I'm going to this game with the first born and his mother. Forgot about the booking fees hike and I guess they hope most will. I get a concession on two tickets so the lower price hid the rise. I.e.) overall I'm spending less. However, once back to normal cost I'm a non attendee and this is one reason why.
Again, anything resembling a notice of this from any party?
